Default My first Mod

Hi! New user and a new owner of a 2011 Stryker. My bike is completely stock, and I just recently bought the Vanes and Hines twin slash staggered exhaust for a sound I'm more familiar with. But as I'm understanding, if I just install the pipes, this will increase the air flow and make the bike run lean. I have had tuners added to previous bikes I've owned, but this is the first Yamaha I've ever had. So just to be safe, will I need some type of tune up done after the install?

Welcome and good choice on the exhaust. Check out this thread:

Ivans flash is totally worth the money. The flash is the only thing you need no tuner needed. It takes car of any problems caused by aftermarket exhaust and fixes some of the factory settings that restrict the engine. Ive been running it now for a little over a month and it has been a huge difference.

Congrats on the great bike choice!

Yes, you are going to need a tuner of some sort. You will hear a lot about Ivan's Flash around here, and it's doubtless the best option. Once you get your ECU flashed by him, you would be good to go with the new pipes.

I started with the Cobra Fi2000 tuner, and then went with Ivan's flash.

So after some research, I've decided to install the cobra Fi2000. I'll be moving to the Ivan's flash later on. But I've come to the next question. With the cobra Fi2000, there's two types; one for the O2, and one without. How do I know which tuner to go with? I haven't seen anyone install one of these on my bike.

With Ivan's new updated tune, you wouldn't need the tuner. So if you are going to do the tune, why invest in a tuner?
If it were me doing this over, I'd have gone directly to the tune and never got a tuner. But even his initial tune he indicated that a tuner was necessary to complete the tune. He's updated that now and it's no longer necessary.
Just my 2 cents.

+1 with RJ. Your tuner will become an expensive paper weight once you have the flash done.
