Default Viking bags

I'm assuming there are some out there that have Viking bags, my question...How are they? Quality, durability, etc...And which ones do ya'll have? Considering ordering some but the prices almost seem too good on some.

My advice stay away from the leather covered ones, leather is paper thin and not glued so any little bump it tears. Have a second set of hands to help with install. This was one of the more PITA installs I have done. It was easier to remove the gas tank, run all my lighting wires. Than it was to install my bags. They are great and plenty of room. But drilling the holes and placing the brackets is at least a 12 pack job!

Agree with Preacherman. I have the Lamellar hard bags in gloss black. They match the black of the 2012 Stryker very nicely. 3rd season with them now and very happy.

Positives- great capacity, locks, nice finish inside, very solid construction, their brackets are really good.

Cons- when full, you have to lean on the outside to push the latch closed, mounting bolts suck (get smooth shank ss after market- $10), finish can be iffy (some bubbles in the paint) and mounting is definitely a 2 peron job but if you take your time, the results are great.

Overall, very happy with them.

I have the lamellar hard bags. Like others said, install isn’t the easiest, but I didn’t find it super difficult, either. After having them for a couple years I have an issue with the tops not latching properly and popping open at freeway speeds. I contacted Viking and their support is non-existent. They just said no, not an issue that’s been reported to us. Ummmm... ok. I’m trying to report the issue!
I’m going to see if I can fix or replace the latches myself.

I have the Leather and I think they look good, the leather is super thin. hinges and locks are pretty suspect but all in all the bags are ok. You are getting what you pay for.

Pretty good value for the money. Mine came with a mickey mouse proprietary support system. I used cobra supports instead.

Mine have started to warp after about a year, not the end of the world. I got mine when they went on sale. Mounting wasn't too bad. I have the short sissy bar, so I had to play legos with the bolts and spacers. Overall I really enjoy them and think they look good.

It's important if you choose leather to treat the leather often especially if you ride in wet weather alot. I've treated mine four times a season, it sees maybe two downpours a year.

The viking bags have been great and the price was right compared to other similar bags.

Here's a video of my post installation ....

The only complaint I have is that the locks are keyed different on each bag, but that's an easy fix....

I know this is an older post but I just got a set today and both are keyed the same, I went with the large matte black, already held them up against my matte gray 2014 and they look great! Probably mounting tomorrow.
