Yea had to start mine too just to see what it sounds like ya that back plate really doesn't make any difference I have a set with the back plate out and also left in. You will like the way it sounds but I would defiantly get the front plate pretty much all the way out and break the welds takes a lot of wiggling but the it will just break free and fall down inside the pipe about four inches this will allow more room to work with on the back plate.

Finished removing the baffles today. I love the sound!

I basically used the OP's instructions with some improvisation when I didn't have a tool listed.

I still need to clean the holes up a bit with the Dremel, but I'll leave that for another day.
The sound made my Harley riding neighbor come out of his house to see who was making all that noise! He gave me two thumbs up then went back in! I also didn't get any of the popping others have experienced while decelerating.

I won't be buying aftermarket exhaust for a while. The stock exhaust was always attractive to me, and now that she sounds as mean as she looks, I see no need to drop cash on the V&H I was eyeing. Yet...

The only concern I have is that I don't want to piss off my neighbors at 6:30 AM everyday...
