Nice write up. If you don't mind let me add to it. If your nervous about cutting into the wires, you can do like I did and just attach the wiring to the end, where the lights were in the first place. I then ran my wires through a wire loom to cover it and to make it appealing, to the side plate.

what is the color of the wire for the lp light. I have mounted a new plate holder and need to run my wire for the light.

Is there anything I need to know about removing the axle and replacing it? Does everything line back up correctly or will I need to make any adjustments to the belt or anything? I've never done any work on a motorcycle.

Measure the studs sticking out from the belt adj................and look in the little window to see where the marks are for the adj. and push on the belt to get a feel for how it is now. Everything else pretty much lines up when you reinstall the axle. Go slow and if you have a camera, take pictures before and during for reference.
