I put mine on today. All I used was a motorcycle lift, needle nose channel locks, 3/8th ratchet w/ 17mm socket, 17mm wrench, pb blaster, and w-d 40, and a heavy duty 5mm allen wrench. I borrowed the lift from my neighbor..
What i did was set the lift under the bike to get it parallel with the ground, loosened the bolts, removed them and the old links, placed the new links in their place and re-installed the bolts, hand tightened the bolts, lifted the bike with the lift (the bolts automatically slid into the 2.25 position--it was magical
--), torqued the top bolt to 36 ft/lbs, torqued the bottom to 35 ft/lbs, lowered the bike back on the ground, checked torque again...took a 20 mile ride around Omaha, NE. All you have to do is follow the instructions given on this thread to a T. Be sure not to start doing anything until you read and understand all of the instructions first. Slow and steady wins the race! Have a beer for me..
The pics below show my before and after...excuse how dirty my bike is.
