Thanks Stryker11...I ordered a Metz but after reading all the mixed reviews maybe i should of went with Avon..
Hey bode, you will not have any problems with the Metzler as long as you keep your dog bones a 1" drop. If you change that to the 2" inch drop you will definately rub with the Metzler! I know from personal experience with my stryker! If you ever plan on going to the two inch drop you must go with the Avon.

Can't see as to where you would need to, I go 275 and the little woman about 130, dropped 1" with Avon 250 and no scrub
That's really good info. That means a Avon 240 should not rub with the max load at 450lbs with 1" drop? But I love the 2.25" drop. Haven't tried a full load with the stock 210 with 2.25" drop yet. Waiting for things to dry up. Looks like rain and snow for the next ten days. then it takes at least 5 days of sun to dry things up enough to get the bikes up my driveway. It might be another month before I get to ride again :'( :'(

I have the Metzler 240/40-18 on my Stryker and the PCS lowering kit set at a one inch drop and I have not had any rub that I have noticed. Does everyone agree that I can go to the max drop and not have any rub? I ride one up only and I go about 210lbs. I am interested in what everyone thinks.... 8)

we lowered mine the max on the PCS links and myself and one of the techs who is bigger than me got on it, basically bottomed out the bike but they swear I still would have a good 1/2" space left, still wasn't enough for me to feel safe with the Mrs on the back so I raised it back up to the 1" drop. It's relatively easy to change back and forth so go for it and see if you like it

Deja, how does this compare to the stock Bridgestone tyre? I believe I can only get a 240 over here and as I have lowered the bike I don't want to lift it again with a new tyre.

The stock Bridgestone 210 tire is 24.6" tall according to Bridgestone's website

Skwerlee - Dunlop 250 = 1" drop. You will have to have the shock at least half way up on preload. Mine just rubs at lowest preload with the wife.

Our bikes have a cool little feature, an 1/8" little tab sticking down under the fender supports. It acts as a rub indicator when you get within 1/8", or so of rubbing you will hear a loud "bark" im sure this varies tire to tire? If you hear an unnatural loud noise coming from your bike and you dont know what it was check this tab, if paint is worn off you started to rub! You'll also hit the plastic fender at this time,or just before it.

If you look at the pic it's the shiney tooth hanging down on the left. You actually hit on the side before the top. I was expecting to hit on the bolts if anything?

Hey Jan Metzler makes a 210 /40-18 if you want to stay with stock size but get a much better tire. I'm considering that myself because I'm liking the way it handles and looks lowered 2.25"

Toby, do you know if that 210 Metzler has a bigger profile than the stock Bridge?

I think it's probobly just like the difference between brands, a few tenths of an inch. Not sure of exact diameter. If you are referring to the side wall profile I would think it's the same, I haven't seen one yet..

Toby, Toby, Toby, Buy a tire before you crash on a bald one and hurt yourself! Try one, anyone, ride down, we'll pull it off, take it in, have it swapped, and put it back on. Were not road racing, were dragging pegs before any tire is losing grip. The amount of time your riding on a bald tire that should've been replaced is just not worth the difference of getting hurt or 1000 miles more or less between brands! I'll even help you with a car tire! Get some tread buddy! We all know what can happen on a bike if you have a blow out, and were all willing to take certain risks(were on bikes) but how would you feel, laying in the hospital, thinking the only reason I'm here was a $180 tire(average)?

Not being mean, just sayin.

Edit - Have it shipped here so your not trying to tie it to your bike and riding down! ;)

Because you know he would! Then he'd take pics and post them on here. LOL
Ya I'm gona get more miles off this one than the last lol. And yes I did strap it on my bike and ride 30 miles through the mountains to have it put on.
No seriously I have only 1,200 miles or so on the one I have right now. It should last till I get back from San Diego.
And ya straightjacket when I'm ready to buy one I will have it shipped to your house and come down and have you help me out.

I will check what is available here but someone has told me I won't be able to get a 210 in Europe just a 240. Will try to get the one that is smallest. Will probably need one after my USA trip. :D

Jan, iirc you wrote you are flying out of Houston. Your bike will be here and depending on which side of the city you are staying in/leaving from, you can always have it mounted here before it goes back, there are many Yamaha dealers here in Houston . Then you can get whatever you want.
Or buy it here, box it up and ship it to yourself via FedEx or UPS.
