Hello everyone! Newbie here in Orange County California. I bought a 2013 Raven a couple of weeks ago and have been admiring it in my garage. I finally had a chance to ride it after passing the MSF and I love it!!! Some people say it's too much bike for a beginner....I say go BIG or go home!!! I would NOT have purchased any other bike as my first if I could do it all over again.:thumb:

My Stryker was my first bike as well. As far as being too big, I don't think it's the size of the engine, but the intelligence of the rider that makes the difference. As long as you realize your limitations and inexperience your fine. If you try to do things you can't, you can get in trouble just as easily on a 250 as you can a 1304.
