k, i want to attempt to get some clarity on a debate. im lowering my bike next weekend but i want to lower it with a new tire. Im mainly changing the tire for looks. Is it true that a 240 and 250 will be the same width on our stock rim? id like to go with the widest look which is why im still torn between these two sizes. ive got the soupys links so i know i can easily adjust it accordingly but id really like to go with the fattest look and then lower it as low as it can safely be lowered. im less than 150 pounds and riding solo 100% of the time so im not too worried about bottoming out(or should i be?)

Hey Jennifer. Have you looked at 10mm on a ruler? It's not a very noticeable visual difference. Biggest advantage: to say you've got a 250 :-D

Sumo-x makes a 300 kit for the Raider and Blue Steel customs makes them for the road star. If those won't fit it will only be a matter of time before they do! Maybe you can let one of them use your bike as a sample and end up with a 300 kit for free?

haha thanks mike...you know as the wife of a raider owner my main goal is to make my husband a jealous as possible lol. I think the 240 is going to look awesome. I think 300 is a little too much but im sure someone will do it soon and its going to look bad ass. I just wanted to check one last time before i order.

p.s. this is turning out to be quite the expensive hobby

I'm with kraaazymike . I would do the 240 or just plain out go for broke and stop with the tap dancing shoes and do the 300.
Sumo makes one for the stryker. here are some sizes that will help you decide on tire brands.


Metzeler: 240/40R/18 = 25.8" tall :thumb:
Dunlop: 240/40R/18 = 25.91" tall :flame:
Avon: 240/40R/18 = 25.5 " tall eace:

Others may correct me but I thought only the 240 fit on the stock rim and that the 250 needed changes to the rear end etc to work.

You're probably right in that you wouldn't bottom out considering your weight but adjusting the shock 1 notch stiffer might not be a bad idea. Easy peazy with the tire out of the way

You are correct sir, I have a 250 Avon on the stock rim, had to either mod the lower belt guard or lose it, I lost it. I am however lowered 1", no issues there
