Been to a few Stryker meet ups in Illinois, and I find it pretty rare that I meet someone else who 2 ups on the Stryker. The original seat and pegs definitely make it horrible for passengers, so mods were needed.

So my question:

Who 2ups riding on the Stryker?

also

With Maggie Valley coming up, if you do 2 up i'm a bit concerned with the luggage weight and reaching the max bike capacity. Any tips on possibly increasing the weight capacity? I doubt there is, but figured i'd ask. I've been on Shock 4 setting with over 500 on the bike and no bottom out, but it was for only 6 blocks ><.

Most of my riding is solo due to my work schedule but on the weekends when my wife and I are both off we go out 2up. We have been out for 250 mile day trips with no problems and with luggage and both of us were around the 500. The bike rides and handles fine. Does not feel unstable nor do i have any concerns. We have ran 75 mph and i dont even give it a thought. I'm not sure what setting my shock is at but we have not bottomed out ever on it. Hope this helps some.

I Have done a bit of 2up this summer and getting an airhawk2 cushion and passenger floorboards were the best mods I made to the bike according to the wifey. She never complains since doing these two mods no matter how far or long we go.

This actually does lighten the stress about the bikes performance. If you have never touched the shocks, the default is 4(I think). It's recommended to go to 7 or 8 with 2up, but i've done 300+ day trips on 4 and never had an issue of bottoming out, but we are at the 400 mark right now. I told the wife i'll just loose the bear belly so she can pack some more shoes for Maggie.

I have the airhawk, now just need to get a bike jack so that I can tighten the shocks to 8.

I do have one final question: If i get a dunlop 240, will it make it easier to bottom out?

I have a Metzler 240 and PSC lowering kit lowered to 2 inches. I have bottom out just going up the driveway with no extra weight. Hope it won't be worse when I do have luggage!

That's about right. It's an amazing edition for the passenger. Looks craptastic, but not all of the mods are for us.

This is correct. The bike comes from the factory on setting 4. I have moved mine to setting 7 and both my wife & I noticed an instant difference. I described how to make these changes in details with photos in another thread, let me know if you need me to find it..

So I have my bike lowered 2" and the 2up weight will be about 450lbs. Also have a 210 tire and default shock settings. Should I adjust the lowering kit to 1" and change the shocks to 7??

Hmm, i think you are going to be very close to having a problem. Having the bike lowered 2 and with that much weight - you are stuck at a 210 tire for sure.

I'm not 100%. I have my shocks at 7 now, with a 240 tire and not lowered at all. I'm not going to guess my wife's weight, but i think we are under 400lbs... No issues here.

Not necessary... if anything.. maybe change it to the 5.. 7 is going to be way too firm.

The wife & I ride 2-up all the time... with the L&M lowering kit, tension set at 5...

Now when I get the the 240 put on.. I may up it to 6.. and we'll see what happens.

Toby and I rode 2 up on his after he lowered it, on the 2 and a quarter setting, we bottomed out. 375 lbs combined weight... no luggage to speak of (we were just using one bike while we rode around San diego on that trip)
He put his bike back up to the 1" setting and set the preload up to 8 or so, and we could ride 2up even on our roads here, but still had to be pretty careful because these roads are not smooth.
the bike can handle 2 up very well, the driver doesn't notice the passenger weight at all really, as I experienced when toby let me drive his bike while he rode passenger. (he had to wrestle me for the keys back that day hehehe)
Now that I have a luggage rack n stuff on mine we will probably use it for the occasional 2up riding we do when we need to just take one bike.
I agree about the airhawk passenger pad, I want one lol, and peg extensions for the passenger are a must. We got the peg extenders from sscustom I think.
we have done rides to San Francisco from here, which is about 600 miles round trip 2 up without issue.

We have adjusted our pre-load a number of times without using a lift at all =) once you learn where that thing is and how to get the tool on it and get it turned it doesn't require a lift and it is a quick job.
