Finished my 4.5 inch forward controls last weekend. Man, am I glad I didn't settle for the 3 inch. Changed my whole riding position. For the first time since I bought the bike I can ride with my arms straight.

Cost me less than the scootmods too. I'm less than six foot and am surprised anyone bigger than me would settle for three inches.

FYI, my shift linkage extension was too weak for the long run. After a couple of months it started bending in the middle. For a while I just straightened it out every once in a while. It was pretty clear that it wasn't going to last.

I hunted forever and finally found these metric m6 turnbuckle links from the UK on eBay. They come in a variety of lengths so you can buy a length to match your extensions. I bought the 300mm one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380056835529 I then had to buy a couple inches of 6m stainless left-hand allthread. Also only available from the UK on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251286136608. Cost for both came to about $32.

Picked up the extra 6m left-hand nut from the dealer. Painted it black. No more bending. You can see the end of it below.
