At least that's what I heard from a motorcycle shop! Let's plan an event for early spring people. Patrice, let's figure it out! We should consider meeting up outside of Chicago, towards central. Maybe not all the way, but GibsonCity or some other small town where we could stay 1 night in a hotel.

I think they are basing that on the fact the groundhog didn't see his shadow. At least that is what we are told. :der: Don't know I really believe them. We will see what the weather brings in the next 30 days. Weather here is so unpredicable the time of the year.

That would put us right around my b-day, 3/18, which would be great for a ride but sadly not too likely unless we have another freakishly warm/early spring like last year.
Plus, sadly, we need so good thunderstorms to get rid of all the salt(more will undoubtedly be laid before mid March) :(
Gibson city looks like a nice ride though.

I'm hoping for the nice weather. The other post that asked about the rough idle brought a tear to my eye because I realized I cannot remember how my bike sounds after 2+ months

We had an abnormally warm March last year in Michigan. I am really hoping for another one this year. We've gotten a lot of snow lately and 3-4 more inches tomorrow though. Have to wait and see I guess.

Almost zero snow in Champaign, IL. It's going to hit 50 again today, but rain. We could try and shoot for Billy's Bday :).

We going to ever meet Billy's wife? She needs to get more comfortable on the back, so my wife doesn't feel like the only "old lady".

I've been to his house and never even met his wife. Maybe he doesn't really have one. ;) Billy, if you read this you might want to prove us wrong. Maybe put her on the back of your bike and take some pics. :)

She does exist. It's just that MC people scare her :embarassed:
As for getting her on the bike more, that is a goal. Last season I was sure she was totally bailing on it since no helmet purchase was materializing but then she surprised me and got one. After 1 ride she is still skittish.
Trying to schedule more short rides to places that will interest her but we have to wait for the much nicer weather. Don't expect her to climb in the saddle anywhere north of say 65!

Gota make the ridding experience as fun as the places you go.
What kind of seating system do you have? As in back rest etc?

Stock seat(not the best I know) and the Yamaha tall backrest. I'm not opposed to replacing the seat but she has to be on it a lot more to justify that :)
Right now she just isn't comfortable and I fully understand. I wasn't comfortable after my initial rides either and, ****, I was in control...

She'll either come around or I'll be looking for a biker chick to share the saddle ;) That is till she finds out. Then I would no longer be able to physically ride a motorcycle...

That's funny. Took my wife at least 4 rides for her to loosen up. The ridding was all mountain twisties with cliffs etc. I did a lot of explaining to her what the bike was doing and what was necessary for her to do to allow the bike to work right. Getting her to understand that it would not fall over at speed was hard, leaning was normal and down hill was not a problem cuz it has brakes. She is used to horses running away down hill. Then it took only 10,000 miles before she got her own bike.. Now she has nearly 10,000 miles piloting her own bike, the 950 v star.
Oh back to the pictures.
Think the first pic is a Star bike? Not sure what motor? oopps wrong thread for the pics sorry.

Definitely ready for spring. I haven't rode since October. There has been a few days nice enough recently but there is too much road treatment out there from all the small snow storms.
I know what you mean. I too haven't rode since early November. Need some good rain to wash the roads and then some good temps and sunshine.
