Went for a ride today and it was interesting to say the least... I live on a hill, the road down is about a half mile long and is somewhat twisty, not too bad. At 11:45 in the morning this hill was a sheet of ice! I had to drop the bike in first gear, get in to the bike line where there was some dirt, rocks, and other random debris, I had my feet down just incase but I'm pretty sure I would have just slipped on the ice too. Somehow I managed to not lose control and I made it to the bottom. I then met my friend, we rode around for a bit then went back to my place, via a different road. I went around a turn in my neighborhood, hit a patch of ice and the back end broke loose... I again somehow manage to keep rubber on the road, my friend behind me not so lucky. He dumped his brand new Sportster 1200, bent the shifter, tore up the left grip, scratched up the rear left blinker and put a pretty nasty gouge on the engine cover.... Lesson learned, dont ride when the roads might be icy.

Good thing you guys are ok good enough to tell us the story. I to hit snow and ice laid her down real soft in the snow all at a stop and the snow help pad it. barely got a scratch on mt tail pipe and snow and mud up in my foot peg. But aren't HDs already in the shop enough for maintenance and repair that we don't need to ad our own repairs. lol. Oh and I might ad the Stryker really handles nice and was easy to control slide and lay her down..

I hope I never have to find out how easy it is to do a controlled ditch!
Pray we all never do but I laid bikes down 3 times in my younger years and had a head on collision and believe me laying them down is a much better way to go.
