My wife has been expressing an interest in getting a bike of her own to ride. Well yesterday, we found a 2009 Suzuki GZ250. It was a holdover with only 1 mile on it. Got a really great deal on it and even got 0% financing on it. My wife is all excited. I had to ride it home for her yesterday evening. I about froze my tail off. I half expected the dealer to start playing circus music as I pulled out of the parking lot because I looked like a trained bear on it. Next 2 steps are getting her learners permit and getting her signed up for the Abate course.

I spent some time yesterday showing my wife how to start the bike, put it in gear, giving it a little gas and feathering the clutch out to get going. She is pretty wobbly right now, but this is the first time she has ever driven a motorcycle. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to get her into the Abate course.

No offense taken. I think my wife is hot too. She is definitely my BETTER half. I am going to call the dealer tomorrow to see about getting her into the Abate course.

I assume the Abate is similar to the course we have here in Canada. My wife hadn't ridden either and came out of the course fairly confident. I say fairly because even with all the tips and techniques she learned, the first time you ride by yourself it's quite daunting

The Abate course is usually a 3 day course where they teach you all the basics of riding a motorcycle with a big emphasis on safety. I don't know if it is still the case, but it used to be if you passed the Abate course, you could get your license without having to take the drivers test at the license branch.

That's how it is here in Georgia, our 17 year old just did it.
