In searching for the "Air Box Mod", all the pics and examples seem to be gone. Anyone got pics, instructions, etc?

Thanks, but nope...not spending cubic dollars on mods...mod the OEM air box, get a K&N, and bore some holes in the pipes...maybe get an Ivans...maybe maybe make some custom handlbars....call it done
Just installed the Cobra. Was looking for the best air and talked with Ivan he said this one is the best. Everything else is a couple of HP, he stated this will add 10 HP and I am assuming that is with his tune and the V&H that I have on it. It won't be anything like my Raider or Vmax but what the heck...he has my ECU now.

ok...the Stryker has plenty of power as it is...it does need to be "smoothed out' with an Ivans. And it is too quiet. When I was younger, I spent cubic dollars on bike stuff. Learned that there are other ways rather than just throwing dollars at it. Reliability is more important than cool stuff. Keep your hotrod stuff. No interest in it. From Point A to wherever I decide Point B, getting there and back without issues is all I'm interested in. Breeze on the knees, bugs in the teeth, money in the bank...more than 1 million miles on two wheels and still going...

I am 61 now and started riding and racing at 8, therefore spending lots of time and money on many bikes has been the norm. But in saying that I kept just about all of my street bikes bone stock, straight from the crate. But I am also very proud to ride the bikes I have and I am a chrome guy so if I see something that pops with me and the bike it's on it. I am not a mechanic but mechanically inclined but would rather be riding in the time I have than wrenching. As you stated reliability is key then comes smoothness, comfort, looks and quickness in my book and that is what is sitting in my garage. We all have our priorities and these are mine. The Stryker is a mediocre midsized cruiser to me and nothing more. Just making it my own...in my way.
It's a pretty decent cruiser/whatever bike without bad habits, in her niche..

As you should! As we all do! I'm almost 70...the one thing that is paramount to me is the reliability....because it is my sole method of transportation. I have not owned a car since 1972. I chose the Stryker over the list of others I was looking at for its reliability. Yamaha is #1 in reliability, only 11% have failures within four years of ownership...and if you find the data by model as I did, the Raider and the Stryker are a miniscule part of that percentage of failures. Less than .025% ever see repairs of failed parts within the first four years. ...hehe...I'm a chrome guy too and if I could find someone with an older Stryker with all the chrome pieces still pristine that wanted black, we could trade them all out!

Your reliability figures sound great and I can attest that Yamaha is number 1 in my book hands down. Out of the 20-30 bikes I have owned only 6 have not been a Yamaha. Four Hondas, 1 Kawasaki and 1 Harley. The only "kind of" issue I had was with my 81 750 Seca. It was their first year and turned out to just be a coil issue I believe but I had it to the dealer about four times before they found the problem. My 85 Vmax did have a recall on 2nd or 3rd gear which showed up about five years after I bought it new, but they took care of it. I put 25k miles on the 14 Raider I sold a few months ago and never even had a small issue with it. I hear ya on the blacked out stuff, just not into that. Guess I am just too old fashioned with my chrome. Pix of the Raider and Vmax. Ride Safe and Take Care:cool:

I haven't done an airbox mod to a Stryker, but if you pull the chrome cover off it appears to me the only areas that might add some additional flow (that make sense) would be a couple of 1/2" to 3/4" holes drilled into the side, most likely just the the rear if you want to avoid getting bugs and debris into the housing.

Had given that some thought but after speaking with Ivan and a friend of my that does a lot of his own mods I decided to just go with the PowerFlo. Easy install and the way it's made it'll configure the air directly into the throttle body after going through the K&N.

You keep pushing PowerFlo. I never asked about that. I know about PowerFlo. I have used them in the past. My question was about the Air Box Mod, not air intake systems. . Not interested in spending $400 on an air intake system. Not looking for every drop of HP I can get. Can you answer my original question?
Sorry that it may sound like I am pushing the Powerflo because I am not a Cobra fan at all. Especially their exhaust systems. But if comes down to getting 10 extra HP vs. 2 or 3 I will spend $326 for that product. Ivan has worked on and tested thousands of bikes, two of them being mine so I trust his experience and guidance of the best way to get more air in.
Your question about Air Box Mod vs. Air Intake System to me they are the same unless you are forcing air in with a blower or something of that nature. Which the Stryker is not in that category. The Powerflo is no more than a glorified Air Box Mod which I am willing to pay for to get maybe 8 additional HP.

Im not willing to pay that, I don't care about pulling out every possible HP, hence the original question. My question, my thread, answer what I asked. I did not ask about Air Box Mod vs anything. Read my original question again....Every reply from you is PowerFlo, PowerFLo PowerFlo and that has nothing to do with what I asked. Please quit trashing up my post with your fawning over PowerFlo. You want to praise PowerFlo, start your own post about it. This ain't it.. Thank you.

Sorry for "TRASHING" YOUR thread with Cobra PowerFlo info that I found helpful to me and maybe someone else. Also sorry I could not answer your question about ABM on your box, hopefully someone can who has had a Stryker for longer than I have had mine can help you??? Don't fret I will not so called push the Cobra PowerFlo on your thread anymore. I am done here and Good Luck with your ABM! Thanks, Mark

Ok. So that right there.... is pretty epic 😁
