Well we have two Strykers, but neither of us wants to add saddlebags. My wife has a solo seat and I don't have or want a sissybar. So...does anyone have any good suggestions for some type of backpack that would be good for a weekend trip?

If I could find a quick detach saddlebag without any type of distracting side brackets I wouldn't be opposed. I would rather just put them on for a trip.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a kuryakyn grand touring bag and it could be mounted on in three different ways 1 being my favorite is that the bag act like a backrest for the driver oops i mean rider. I know their is a video that shows different ways to mount it. its either on their website or on cruiser customizings website.

Yep, love my GranTour bag
Do you use anything else in conjunction with this bag?

My wife seems to think she'll need this, some saddle bags, maybe a windshield bag ... etc etc lol

Dreadly my friend you should know the answer to this its YES! 1. Wife happy everybody's happy. 2. women need to bring more items than men. I also have star motorcycle bags and they will work fine for me but i saw someone has the hard street quick release bags that look better than what i thought they would. i might switch.

I bought one of these for a weekend trip: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/124/9637/ITEM/Fieldsheer-Micro-Maxi-Back-Rest-Bag.aspx

Worked great. Packed enough stuff to dress warm for a couple days for both of us, and all her stuff. Turns into a really small pack when it's empty. Used it as a backpack with the helmets in when we were strolling around a couple times.

By the time she was done buying ****, we needed that, saddle bags, maybe a windshield bag...

Be careful boys, There are a few women on this forum now you know.

I have just got some throwover saddlebags that will be attached individually on each side as the throwover straps weren't long enough. I have also a large roll top bag that can be strapped to my back seat. Doesn't help with a solo seat though unless you buy a fender luggage rack. Carrying a backpack is not an option for me unless it is a bladderpack. My journeys are too long and it would give me back ache. Definitely wouldn't enjoy riding my bike with all my luggage on my back.
Let the bike take the strain.

Or just put it all on the hubby's bike ;D

There is a lot of nice bags out there designed for bikes but just so you can see what is possible here is my test ride to see what my bike would hold. This is two suit cases with wheels stacked on top of each other strapped to my seat, no sissy bar.

I have to agree Jan. Put it all on the hubby's bike. ;) Actually, I have taken a small backpack when needed. But I carry the bare minimum. Usually, just my cell phone and anything that will fit in my small pouch on the front of my bike.

Have you gone on longer trips? I would love to have you explain the carrying the bare minimum idea to my wife. lol

Did I mention the little dog went with us too? Had him in a little carrier on my shoulder resting on my tank but decided that might leave a mark on the tank so we strapped on the back seat of my wife's bike on top of her bed roll
Did 400 miles 2 days.
