So I currently have the Scorpion EXO-250 3/4 helmet.. I like the helmet but my main issue I have is that you only have 1 shield which I currently have tinted so once night comes I either have to stop home to swap it for clear or just ride with no eye protection... I mean I could leave a clear shield and ride with sunglasses but I hate wearing glasses with the helmet.. Another thing is I have gotten a lot of crap from friends about the 3/4 helmet.. Apparently a 3/4 is just not the "in" thing to wear while riding.. Most guys say either go full face or half.. Being that most head injuries in motorcycle crashes occur between the chin and nose I am not a fan of half helmet.. Not that I am planning on going down but in the even it happens I would like to do my best to keep my face.. I was looking into modular helmets with flip fronts but the majority say you should not ride on the highway with it flipped up.. Anyway.. looking around I found the Nolan N43 which they say is a 6 in 1 helmet.. I like it for the fact that it gives the full face helmet look but gives you the clear shield and also a flip down visor which is perfect if riding day and night.. No having to swap shields.. Just lower the shades during the day and retract at night.. Also if you want the whole open face feeling you can remove the chin protection and it becomes a 3/4.. Just wanted to see if anyone on here has used this helmet or seen it in person.. I am currently trying to locate one to see in person but figured I would post up and see what guys think of this helmet..

I feel the same way about helmets and ride with a full-face Shoei Qwest Passage. Highly recommended IMHO. I had a Scorpion 750, but the Shoei is a much better helmet. No buffeting at speed and no pull doing head-checks. Plus it's been cool even on my longer rides with temps at 90 here in northern Virginia. Visor works great (I have a clear visor) and I don't get any visual artifacts in my vision even with full sun at high noon.

I have a Qwest, too. I don't have any interest in anything, but full face helmets. I run a tinted shield which won't work at night, but it is very comfortable, cool, and lightweight. I highly recommend it.

Just need to clarify for you my friend. I think your refering to the Nolan N43 Trilogy as its known in the US or the N43 air in the UK (the two are slightly different as the N43 has a different top vent that didn't meet the standards for US use). O'm not being a stickler for detail, but the Nolan does have an N43 which is just a 3/4 version of the above mentioned helmets. so it means no removable chinbar. had a couple friends who didn't realise this and ordered the N43 thinking they were getting it for a steal of a deal, and then wound up having to return it and spend a bit more cash.

here is a really good review on the N43 Air. personally i found the chinbar to be a little less sturdy than my trusty Caberg Hyper X. The hyper X has all the same features but i feel a bit more comfortable with their sturdier chinbar. Stryker Jan on this forum has the same helmet and i know she loves hers. If you can source a Caberg Hyper X on Ebay from a good dealer I would recommend it, otherwise I'd say you'll be equally happy with the Nolan. After all i dont think anyone is going to intentionally be testing the chinbar strength on a regular basis, and the helmets did pass the various testing parameters to meet the necessary approvals I cant stress the huge difference in outward visibility. If your used to the fullface helmets these modulars give you even more top to bottom vision due to their huge face shield. even if u choose to remove the faceshield you can still have the chinbar if you like and the internal visor gives some good eye protection form road debris. I do wear glasses and at first it was a little tricky . even though its designed to accommodate glasses it tends t be a little difficult with the thicker styled frames, but once i had the helmet properly broken in its just fine now.

its all good man, with the exception of the little black peak, this helmet has all the same features as the Caberg Hyper X. and i realy love my hyper X. usually i wont go for the 3/4 configuration but on the rare occasions that i'm doing a bar hop with my cousins, we generally dont go faster than 40km/h..and its pretty **** hot here in the Caribbean, so i just pop out the chinbar (or sometimes i just take off the face shield) stuff it in my backpack and enjoy the breeze. these are a lot lighter than flip ups, the venting is amazing, super comfortable and it really is night and day difference in terms of outward viability when compared to a full face. you cant really go wrong with these.

one small thing worth mentioning about the Trilogy, depending on your head shape, sometimes when lowered the internal visor doesn't extend past your line of sight. so the bottom edge kind of bugs you a bit.

I know its all about safety, but everytime I see someone wearing a full face on a cruzer, it just looks weird to me. Could you imagine a seeing a bad ass Hells Angel wearing a full face. ;D

I have a N43 Trilogy and I love the helmet. I went from a sport bike to the Stryker and I always wore a full face, but with the Stryker I wanted to more air in my face. I'm not a fan of the half helmets and when it is colder in the morning I like have a full face. So the N43 is nice because I can have the full face in the morning and then take the shield and chinbar off in the afternoon for the ride home. The helmet is crazy lite too. If your looking for a 3/4 it is a great option.

I am half and half on the half helmts lol.. I do like them and understand what you are saying.. I always thought it would be weird to go full face on a cruiser but now that I am actually riding I can't help but think that if god forbid the worst happens I would want all the protection I could get.. My friend wears a half helmet and currently I have a 3/4 with full front shield.. He has been pelted with road debris and bugs lol... While everything hits my face shield and bounces away.. I sorta get a little chuckle when I am riding up front and start hearing everything hit my shield cuz I know its hitting his face lol.. But anyway.. The protection I get with the 3/4 is a lot better then his half.. Living in NJ and hearing every week about how a rider went down I feel like a full face is just the way to go.. maybe if I was in a more motorcycle friendly state or just a less populated state I would go with a half helmet but I would rather have the protection and not need it then need it and not have it.. And as the statistics go if you are going to get a head injury chances are its the front of your face.. Plus I am not riding to look cool.. I am riding for me.. So after looking at all the helmets I found the n43 Trilogy which basically is a full face helmet but you can simply remove the chin bar and you have the 3/4 look.. can go further and remove the face shield and now have the open face look.. I think what I may end up doing is grabbing the half helmet for the short rides like to the bank or local store but if I know im gonna be out for the day I will grab the N43 Trilogy..

Yup, Thats what I said. Shorty for the shorty rides and full for the long. Soon you will not be wearing your full because once you get use to the openness of the half you start to feel imprisoned by the full. At least that is what happened to me.

Having seen a friend's helmet after a slide in motorcycle mishap before, I can tell you that without a full face helmet that he would have been severely disfigured....at the least. I'd rather look weird anyday.

Back to the topic, that N43 Trilogy is an interesting helmet.

Agreed, I love the Caberg. The vision compared to my caberg trip which is flip front, is amazing. I always found it difficult backing up the bike to park and seeing behind me with the trip, but the hyper x is great.

I have the nolan N90 and I'm very happy with it. It even brought an anti fog shield. However with the nolan helmets you got to be careful because they are made for different shapes of head. The N90 is for people who have a protruded lower jaw, like in my case. The N43 wouldn't fit me. Here is a picture of the N90 which has all the features that you described plus it's also n comm ready

I've found the Nolan helmets to be very cheaply made. I'd ask you to consider either a Shoei, HJC, Scorpion, Icon, or Bell. As far as being made fun of, Steve Jobs ~ Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
