If anybody can help me ill tell ya what I did. First took to sand blaster got all paint and everything off. Prep work was great used gloves and very thing coats of high temp header paint then thicker coats. Let dry for 24 hrs maybe longer put on bike then started it up. Then it's like the paint started melting off touched it and left a finger print every time I start it and get exhaust hot it gets tacky. Any help would be appreciated and I can give you my number to help me. It looked really good before starting the bike up.

Hey Goose - I did that same thing when I was re-doing my V&H pipes...

you put on too many layers...!

I used Hi-Temp flat black BBQ paint.. works great - two coats... that's it... then one coat of VHT Hi temp Satin clear - to spruce it up a bit.

follow the direction on "curing" the paint once the satin layer is on.... it's like run the bike for 10 minutes... cool for 10.... run for 20... cool for 20... then run for 30.... cool... and done..
something like that...

it will be sticky / tacky when you are baking it... so be careful not to touch it with a rag to "wipe" any spec of dirt or stuff off (i um did that too.. had to star over... doh!)

I'm right there with you.... 1) I don't have the space to set up a "proper" paint booth, & 2) I really lack patience - I want to put all 3-5 layers on now!... and bolt it on.. and ride it... what are we waiting for... 3) technique.... i'm learning... but slowly.. & painfully.. lol!

C'mon guys, its easy to make a temp Spray booth!

ahh.. shucks mikoloe... that entails... ya know... more set up / prep "work" ---

which i may just have to break down and get some plastic drop cloth and nail it up to the ceiling to make a "booth" - since I've got a lot of work to do on my bike and it may save me $$$$ for other upgrades...

I was checking out Color rites price's on their aerosal's... don't know bout having to mix up the clear coat ... but i'm sure it's pretty easy... bout $260 bucks for everything I need from them...
