Hey guys I am fairly new to the motorcycle world, and the forum for that matter, and extremely excited! If all goes according to plan the Stryker will be my first bike. Any words of wisdom as I go in to buy? Special things to look for? Things to avoid? Advice and help would be much appreciated!

Also, any riders/members in my area? I'm in Pasadena, Ca

Being that you are pretty new to motorcycles I’d definitely recommend taking a motorcycle safety course if you haven’t already done so. I’m sure your local dealer would be happy to put you in touch with a good one.

I finished the motorcycle safety course a couple weeks back and it definitely helped me. It's a pretty comprehensive class

Welcome to the lifestyle. In regards to a class, I would recommend it above anything ese. I rode for a few years before I was forced to take one (military requirement) and even though I'd had quite a few miles behind me already, I was still able to pick up a few tips and tricks that help. I support it so much I won't even let my wife start my bike much less try to learn to driv e it herself until she takes the class. Either way, it's up to you. Ride safe, ride hard, and have fun.

Been riding all my life and let me tell you that rule #1 is to not get over-confident! Realize that everyone is out to get you and always watch other vehicles. If a car is getting ready to pull out into the road assume that he will be pulling out in front of you. Defensive driving is a skill that is learned through experience so get ready for some close calls. I always try to find open roads with less traffic. I tend to take my tiime and enjoy the ride. The Stryker is perfect for this!
