Hi all,,,

I am looking for back rest luggage options. I have the Star low backrest, and am ordering the luggage rack for the back of it to keep the luggage off of the fender.
I currently have a Nelson Riggs backrest bag, but it won't fit because of the shape of the backrest bars. The velcro straps are way too short.
Is anyone using some backrest luggage that securly attaches to the Star low backrest? I found the Kuryaken Ultra Tour bag, and the River Road Spectrum Large sissy bar bag, but I'm not sure if they would fit because of the shape of the backrest bars.

I have the same problem. If you don't have to have a passenger on the back, you could remove the pad. Most bags should fit over the bar without the pad installed.

I can't even rest my helmet on the backrest because of the pad.

If you look at the images, there are two separate velcro attachments on the back - and they are both quite wide and adjustable. I can't imagine that it wouldn't fit. I have a regular backrest, but I don't see why it would be a problem.

Yep, I like the Star backrest, but it's too beefy for what bags I have found. I will be having my wife on the back, so it's got to mount on the luggage rack on the back of the backrest.

I did run accross these bags, and they look like they might fit if I bought an extra set of mounting straps.

well, you could always just go the cheapie route and Bungie cord that baby on. May not be pretty, but it will get the job done!

What I'd like to do is find an old tourpak trunk and make some custom brackets to use on long trips

Seems to be a bunch of different versions of "Riggpak" do you know the model number?

Mine are tourmaster and I have had no problem with tall Star or back when I had a Short Star backrest.

nice, do you know the model or number? I'd be happiest if I found something really nice to sit right on the factory bitchpad without all the sissy bars, pad and shelf clutter.

I use my kuryakyn grand tour or my saddleman delux roll bag. Or both on long trips since I don't like saddlebags.

I've got the kuryakyn ultra tour bag. Fits good and holds plenty of stuff. I've used it on several trips now and its held up just fine. Its not waterproof but does come with a rain cover if you get caught in a monsoon.

Get the Kuryaken grantour bag. Looks and fits the Stryker very nicely.

I'm really liking the Kuryaken GrandTour also!! Kind of pricey tho. I also like some of the offerings from Saddlemen's too.

Sorry friend, I looked at both Tourmaster bags I have and no model numbers on them. I bought them both from Yami dealer.

I was looking at/for the gran tour bag and came across the ultra tour bag (http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/696/Ultra-Tour-Bag) - which I think looks better and has more storage space. Has anyone used this one? Any opinions?

I've got the Ultra and its great! I can pack easily for 3-5 days in it. Lots of room in the side pockets too since they expand and it fits good on the Yamaha backrest. I usually set in on the passenger seat and it makes a nice back rest on long trips
