what is the best size backrest for a stryker/tall-short? thanks for any replys

it's a preference thing. In terms of looks I think the shor one looks better on the bike than the tall one but in terms of comfort I think the tall one is better. Depends on who you are planning to ride 2 up with. My lady feels comfy with the short one and I'm happy because I think the short one looks better with the lines of the bike, but that's just my opinion, take ir for what is worth...

got the tall fixed for comfort and the fact its cheaper than the quick release and it still takes a coiuple minutes to take off to ride solo.. just my two cents

I got the tall one on recommendations for comfort from this site. My wife is 5'4 and says it either needs to be taller or shorter to be comfortable. Do'h! Anyone wanna trade my tall fixed for their short fixed???

Seriously. I asked her today if she thinks she would feel better on the shorter one (given that a taller one isn't available and would be hideous for that matter). She said "um, I have to think about it." :

We started with the short one and she hated it. Then bought the tall. She liked it better. Likes it better with the luggage strap over the tall. She is 5'5". I do have a thick custom 3" thick Stratoliner passenger seat for her also

I am in the same boat as Kraaazyike. I originally had the short rest and since the wife was going to be doing more riding with me I got the tall with the mustang pad. Well the wife never even leans on the rest and now she is riding her own bike so now I plan to go back to the shortie. This mod stuff is killing me....

i ordered the tall one as well. Really I wish I could get a quick release luggage rack that would fit on it when I am not using the back rest. Anyone ever see that kind of set up

I want to order the tall back rest but every site I look at says the pad is sold separately is this true? Do I have to buy the back rest and the pad for it?

Yes, because there are so many different pads available and also they make more money off us consumers that way.

yep, I went with the Mustang Vintage (489474) pad for my wife's comfort. I have the fixed tall back rest and she say's it's great.

I bought the tall one when I bought my bike, but swapped for the short one after I realilzed just how tall it was. I like the look of the short one and my wife likes it better too....

win win for me!!

I like the looks of the shorter one also, I started out with short fixed. Wasn't long had to go with tall QR. Reason being she likes it better and I just take it off when riding Solo.
