im wanting to do the baffle drill out but am hesitating like alot of you said you did. My biggest concern is that it is going to be too loud. I am looking for a deeper but not necessarily a whole lot louder sound. Was considering doing 1 or 2 1/2 inch holes in each pipe. any input on how much louder 1 and 2 1/2 holes in each pipe would be and how much deeper

I drilled 4-18mm holes in each pipe and it sounds good. Not loud but a low rumble. But i'm considering taking the baffles out bc i want to be LOUD lol I rode w/ a kawi 900 w/ cobra pipes and i cant even hear my bike when we're side by side. Hope that helps you make your decision!

I drilled 4, 3/4" and 4, 3/8" in each and it has a deep unobtrusive sound.
I'm finding the perfect note for me is exactly 4 - 1/2" holes in each. I actually heard one with 1/4" not a big difference... and one with 3/4 inch not any louder, just a different note.. I guess cause I'm a musician, I'm liking the 1/2" note best when at cruising speeds. The 3/4" only sounds better (in my opinion) when decelerating but as far as long rides, I'm perfectly happy with the 1/2" holes...especially that half of my riding is done in the wee hours of the morning (1:45AM) for 50 miles straight!

I drilled 4 1/2inch holes in mine and it did get alittle louder but more of a deeper rumble then just loud. I think it sounds pretty good for a stock exhaust. Like others have said start small work your way up and figure out what is enough for you.

Ya see... I live in the land of "NO" .... They've just put up a million red light cameras, They're handing out tickets like there's no tomorrow,etc... Hence the reason I sold my sport bike! I was definitely a target every freakin' time I took it out! They're doing it for the revenue and boy are they cashing in. Reason for me telling you this is one of the biggest "No" is LOUD PIPES! They'll ticket you every single time you go out if the decibel reading on their meter is above what the law" here allows. The 4 holes at 1/2" is loud enough for me to like but not too loud to get ticketed. I used to have beautiful Cobras on my Vulcan and got pulled over with a warning.... That sucks....always looking over your back because you're on a crotch rocket or your pipes are too loud  . So I think I'm just fine with the stock exhaust and the 4 drilled holes.... Good enough not to attract too much attention from the Hyper-law over here!

I waited until after my 600 mile service to drill mine. I think it sounds really good. Nice low rumble, not much louder. It would probably be the ideal sound for most folks who aren't interested in modding their bikes. For me it is a pacifier until I can find/afford the right pipes.

I went 4 5/8 in each pipe and a huge improvement in sound. A deep rumble in acceleration and a sweet pop not to load or annoying on the let off. A wonderful thing

I actually started with 4 1/2 in each pipe then started fine tuning with a step drill till I found out that 3-5/8 and one 1/2 per pipe makes for awesome! Deep rumble, a good pop on let off. Loud but not annoying at all.

Iron, what size(s) holes did you go with?

I just did mine no longer than 20minutes ago, and it sounds amazing. Not to loud and not to raspy, it sounds really good for the effort it took. ;)
