Anybody do this!? I am thinking of ditching the mirrors, and it seems if I pop off the caps on the end, there might be threads!?

Yes I have done so and ended up going back to the regular style of mirrors. Bar end mirrors just kept getting in the way and had to always readjust them. I have a few pics of what it looked like in my garage just fyi.
