Hopefully you are storing the bike in your garage and not outside...most tenders come with two different connectors
1) Has alligator clips to attach to the posts - best used it the battery is outside the bike
2) Has ring connectors which attach directly to the posts on the bike - best to put them under the battery cable terminals. The second option allows you to leave the battery on the bike and if you get a good day to ride just unplug it and ride.

http://batterytender.com/ these do range in prices high to low you just need to decide which one suits your particular need.

*Should you be storing the bike outside under a cover I would recommend that you take the battery out -

if storing in a garage make sure that you don't have any rodents (mice, rats, etc.) they can play havoc on wiring and like to make nests under the seat or up the exhaust.
Also if you can find some rubber mats to put under the tires would help, if not then you should try to move the bike once or twice a month and check the air pressure. If you put the bike on a lift make sure the kickstand is down in case the lift bleeds off.....spraying a light coat of WD-40 on it wouldn't hurt either.

Sorry didn't mean to go overboard to answer your question but it might help someone else also.

If you are pulling the battery and keeping in the house you wont need a tender. Just put the batt. on some wood and not concrete.
I have a Batt. Tender Jr. and leave it hooked up all winter and the batt. stays in the bike.

Personal opinion but no need to pull battery if on charger etc. Car batteries stay outside 24/7 and are the same basic design. To me, just a hassle to remove and little to no benefit but I understand other's needs to bring inside.
****, some of the people here get to bring the whole bike inside. No way my wife would allow that even if we had the space!!

Growing up I did help a buddy bring his bike into thew basement though. Pretty cool to ride it out in the spring but you had to be careful since stairs are generally 3 feet wide and doorways less :)

Next year looking into offsite storage since the garage is really full right now... Hoping no too expensive.

Does anyone have a recommendation or experience on a dual 6v/12v battery tender? I would like to go ahead and grab a dual unit for truck and bike.

I would like to find one that is compatible with the quick connect fittings: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NCOKZQ/ref=s9_simh_gw_p263_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1PVJSKTXJ76JENPKSMAW&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846

I know Battery Tender makes them as well as other manufacturers, but I hoping for first hand opinions with real world use.

What length of cable are you finding the most convenient for the bike install?

Thanks.

I bought the Ctek charger. I have a battery tender Jr as well but the CTEK is far more advanced! I HIGHLY recommend the CTEK
We sell the Ctek BC3300 with our ICON vehicles we make. Nice units. I have one as well, but I rarely use it, as I ride year round. Had to use it one time I left my ignition on. Charged my bike back up in a day, and no problems since.

My buddy from work didn't ride last year and he left it off all winter long. The battery was drained. He had it tested, they told him to replace it. I let him borrow my CTEK charger. It reconditioned his battery, no issues since. He now owns one and switches it between his mower and motorcycle.
