She's finally finished and I set up a backdrop and a few lights to get some photos this morning. Immediately ran into a couple of problems. One I didn't have a large enough black background to shoot the whole bike so I had to get a bit artistic. Two I didn't have a large enough softbox (or rather didn't really want to go through the 1/2 hr setup for my big octagon) so some of the highlights are just a little harsher than I like. And three GRASS or rather green reflections. got rid of most but not all. The lights really make the candy colors pop, that's why you see spotlights on bikes at bike shows. The colors in normal light are not nearly as vivid and in shadow tend to be more toward the reddish/orangish tones. Photography can even make my work look good! Here's a before shot when I first got the bike and then the results of the months long build. Hope you like it!

Thanks everyone! I only wish the bike looked as good as the photos lol. The lights really make the candy colors jump of the spectrum! It was a wonderful learning experience and I'm happy with the results. Of course I am intimately aware of every flaw and things I wish I had done differently but I guess I'll have to live with it! My only disappointment with the photos is 1: the lack of a large enough backdrop to get some good overall shots and 2: not enough light on the lower portions as the chin fairing disappears in many of the shots, but heck I'll think I'll have to make up a poster! Here's a few more from this mornings shoot.

Thanks everyone. You could say the mod bug bit me bad! Really I bought the bike with the intention of doing a custom build, kind of a dream realized. I'm pretty stoked with how the bike came out. Stryker11, I'm sorry but the tanks stays LOL. It's been really great to be a part of this forum and the information and support provided by everyone here has made it so much easier and more rewarding to share the build. I've owned a lot of bikes through the years and been a involved in many forums but this one is tops. Never seen one that has such a great sense of camaraderie and friendship. Everyone is always ready to help someone out and it's devoid of the bickering that so often shows up in other forums. A wonderful brotherhood (and sisterhood) of owners/riders and I'm proud to be a part of it. I'd nominate you all for Stryker owner's of the month!
