She's finally finished and I set up a backdrop and a few lights to get some photos this morning. Immediately ran into a couple of problems. One I didn't have a large enough black background to shoot the whole bike so I had to get a bit artistic. Two I didn't have a large enough softbox (or rather didn't really want to go through the 1/2 hr setup for my big octagon) so some of the highlights are just a little harsher than I like. And three GRASS or rather green reflections. got rid of most but not all. The lights really make the candy colors pop, that's why you see spotlights on bikes at bike shows. The colors in normal light are not nearly as vivid and in shadow tend to be more toward the reddish/orangish tones. Photography can even make my work look good! Here's a before shot when I first got the bike and then the results of the months long build. Hope you like it!
