I recently purchased my Styker and I am already thinking about performance mods.

I have approximately $500.00 to spend at this time. I was thinking of getting a Barons BAK intake and a Cobra FI2000R O2 (not autotune). I would also drill the stock exhaust (4 - 1/2" holes) in each tip. Would this give me better performance than spending my money on the cobra exhaust (dual drag pipes) alone? I am assuming it would.

Eventually I will get all three items for the bike but this is the first step as I move forward. Thanks for the input.

So the Corba autotune will help improve the performance of a basically stock bike with just the drilled stock exhaust? I thought with no additional air coming into the motor and barely any additional going out, it would not make a difference. Interesting.

Jmo start with comfort items if you are not comfy you wont want to ride very long.
But other than that i think you are doing good with your choices. You could just buy a K&N air filter for the stock air cleaner this will make a difference.

Get what you think you will enjoy the most. I started with new pipes because I wanted a nice sounding exhaust note while I rode. Its all about making it yours anyways.

I put my Cobra autotuner on before any other Mod.. just to see if it truely made a difference... result... absolutely! Great power gains with all stock components! After I installed the pipes and intake... WOW... feels like a new bike! So My opinion... I agree the Autotune is the best 1st mod.

Well for me I've got to disagree. The tuner might be great for performance, but no one is going to see it. I personally am spending all my extra money on accessories that you can see. This makes the bike look more like mine, this way. The tuner can wait when I've done enough visual changes. Air intake, grips, fender, spoiler etc. first. When you have a lot of extra money then, sure the tuner is great, but your only talking about $500, and how much longer will it be before you will have money to spend on a other accessory?

I am concentrating on the performance side of things first as its just my nature; I can't help it ;).

I'll probably go with the Cobra Autotune in the very near future. I know their is another thread on the forum regarding some issues with the Cobra Autotune; is this something that I should be concerned with?

Amen Monte! You won't be disapointed with the Autotune and if you start there- every other performance mod will fall in to place without further tuning.

I agree with StrykerShane... I had no issue at all with my PowerPro tuner... "IF" you have an issue... the Cobra team will get it right pretty dang quick.... It is a great customer based company.

Wish I would have read this thread sooner, but oh well. I'm just doing it backwards. Drilled pipes firs then K&N and mod the box then I will get the auto tuner.

Since you live at a higher altitude... I think you will benefit a lot from the Autotune.

I second the autotuner. My first mod was the Cobra PowerPro, followed soon after with the Cobra PowerFlo air intake. As others mentioned I did the autotuner first just to see the difference. It is noticeable. I wouldn't say the install was hard but getting to those connectors under the tank takes some patients and small hands. There is a decent thread here with photos on a DIY install of the PowerPro that was helpful to me.

Next was the air intake and it really made a difference, plus it looks pretty sick. The bike really sounds different now, even with the stock pipes (which are being switched out soon). I bought both from http://www.phatperformanceparts.com and it was a bit over your $700 budget for both. You could get the autotuner from them for about $500 for sure.

Good luck.
