I decided that I wanted to get a different sound with the Cobra Swept Exhaust and looked into the Big City Thunder (BCT) baffles. After talking with BCT there are various setups that could be used for different sounds. You can mount their baffles close to the end of the pipe, further in the pipe, couple their baffle with a portion of the original baffle, etc. So I decided to make a project out if it and record the sound clips for the different installations. While you can't get a totally real feel of the sounds of the various installations, this video does give a good comparision under the same conditions. The various sound clips I included with the Cobra Swept pipes and the stock air box are:

Clip 1: Stock baffles
Clip 2:No baffles
Clip 3: Big City Thunder baffles mounted 3" from the end of the pipe using the stock mounting hole.
Clip 4: Big City Thunder baffles mounted 6 1/2" from the end of the pipe.
Clip 5: Big City Thunder baffles mounted 6 1/2" from the end of the pipe coupled with a 6" piece of the stock baffle.
Clip 6: Big City Thunder baffles mounted 6 1/2" from the end of the pipe coupled with a 3" piece of the stock baffle.

Both my wife and I liked Clip 6. I hope this gives you some good information for your modifiaction.

I knocked out the steel center piece on the baffle from my Cobra pipes and put it back in. it sounds like this one. I would NOT spend the money at BCT..... Im just saying... the video is good enough to tell the difference on each one...Thanks

Probably the biggest difference with the additional 6" piece and 3" piece is that the 6" piece still has the solid steel piece in the middle of the baffle. This solid piece really quieted down the sound. The 3" piece is open, and I guess with the slight change in diameter of the additional piece of pipe plus the few holes around the perimeter smooths out the side a little more. The video is really hard to hear the real full sound of the differences. We thought each variation was fairly distinctive in person.

The guy from BCT said you can get a very similar sound with the additional pieces like I did as compared to the QQ series baffles. But the QQ series were like $50 more than the original.

Cobra swept baffles.....take out the screw on the pipe .... I made drilled a screw in an old broom handle and shoved it in till I could get the screw in one of the baffle holes. I had to put another screw in the handle so that I could use a hammer to hit the broom handle out. They dont come out easy but they come out.

Before you spent that big $$ take your cobra baffles out. Cut the middle plate out and wrap the top half with some wool muffler wrap. (This was good for me).I used some old guitar string to hold it in place. Or you can wrap the last half, or dont wrap it at all. This depends on how loud you wanted to be. I dont care for it being too loud. This is as good as its going to get for me. I think mine sounds great! and louder than stock.
$15 for the wrap
