My ring seems to fit so perfect, but i can't snap the gas cap back on.. it is juuuusstt barely out of place. PLEASE any advice is needed asap. I'm affraid to keep wiggeling it, in caution of scratching my paint.

THANK YOU for the fast response. I'll start sanding it down now. I saw all these success stories and was just so confused as to why mine wasn't fitting. I'll update when I can.

I couldn't get it "locked" down and key working to turn all the way. Shaving it down a bit worked great. I noobied it up a bit(small scratch and screwed up polish)... it's not perfect modding, but for as little as i paid i'm going to enjoy it for now and considering rebuying the part.

Thank you guys.

I had to stick my ring in the lathe and turn bottom side down some to get cap to lock also.

well like I said, i shaved actually quite a bit off to make it fit without having to force the gas cap back on every time. I was using a dremel tool to shave / sand off items... so you can imagine it didn't turn out perfect. But, it looks WAY better than previous, and for a 5 dollar item i can live with it not being perfect. My baby has to get scratched eventually.

I used the dremel to shave it down too. Then used silicone to adhere to the tank. Still hanging on there, but the silicone came out around the edges some so it gives me something to pick at, at a stop light

I didn't shave mine. I do have to push down on the cap while turning the key, but it works fine.
You got lucky. They must be slight differences in sizes? There was no way pushing down was going to make it fit (prob a lube joke there some where)

Yea, and there could be slight differences in the filler tube height on tank.

Nogard, after looking at your pics I noticed that we have slightly different rings. It could be that the one you are using simply needs more coaxing than some others.

Fujums,

Your ring is WAY wider than mine.. atleast from 1st glance. I'm still happy with how it turned out. It really makes our tank look huge.

anyone who has ordered this ring, did you have to pay the $10 dollars to ship it? that just seemed a little outrageous to ship a 5 oz. part in the mail! please advise me on this as I really like the look.. not that an extra $10 is going to break the deal haha

It was 14 shipping for me. I emailed them and they dropped it down to 8 or 10 i think. They will work with you, depending on how far.

removed my stupid plastic trim and "warning" label and ordered the ring this morning, now its on to painting my airbox cover flat black to match my fender stays I painted. Do you think they put enough stupid fake plastic chrome on this bike?!!! :p
