I'm pretty sure I would have been behind a car the entire time. Staying in their tire treads, if I was ever to be caught out in the rain like this.

There are no tire treads in oceans, my friend!
I was more meaning from the beginning. If i saw how wet the roads were(before the huge flood) i'd have been following a car instead of going well over the speed limit in my own lane.

Personally, I'd rather stay way the heck away from cars. The old "stay in the tracks" trick doesn't do much for you in the rain, anyway.

And while you're at it, might as well go fast.

In the snow, now, I'd probably stick to some tracks.

Anyhow, I've had this happen to me, though not for quite that distance... It's not that bad unless you hit it going too fast. I'd be scared as heck of doing that on my Stryker though - the air filter is too open.

I have been there and done that, but not on the Stryker yet. When other riders are hiding under the bridges, I am still riding. I will even keep riding through pea size hail, I just slow down a bit. Actually, I love riding in the rain. That is one reason I went with the Tire I have on my bike, so it will throw off water.
