Hello,

I have a 2011 Stryker with only about 1400 miles of it (I purchased it with 1370 miles). The last couple times, I noticed that when I'm cruising say at 50mph it may sputter a little bit. It's as if it's not getting gas or something like that. I give it a couple of revs and it will go away. The bike is always kept with a full tank of premium fuel.

I do have an aftermarket Vince & Hines exhaust with no fuel processor. Could this issue be due to not having a fuel processor?

If it is I was just going to get Cobra's FI2000R.

IF not is there a common problem causing it to sputter a bit?

THANKS

Premium is most of the problem. This bikes Compression ratio works better with 86-87 octane- Seriously! There are threads on this. Also I use Non ethanol gas as much as possible. Costs quite a bit more, but here locally only 2 blocks from my house.

Be careful with the seafoam cover up as much paint as you can and use a funnel or something, the seafoam will eat through paint in a half a second or less.

Totally agree but trying to explain it to people is mind-boggling.
The oil companies have done an incredibly impressive job "teaching" people that the high octane gas is better.
I believed that when I was 17 but since then have gotten to much better understand what is going on inside the engine and why regular gas is best for vehicles that MFG's say to run that.
You are lucky in that you can get non-ethanol gas. Here in Chicago we are about ready to bend over and grab our ankles for the annual Memorial Day screwjob switchover to summer oxygenated fuel. Every year they run low and prices skyrocket for one of the biggest drive days of the year. Then miraculously they get the supply going after MD weekend. What a crock of $hit!!

Phat, does it seem like the bike "cuts" out for a little bit? If i'm going hard from 1st to 2nd, i'll hit about 40 or so and the bike cuts out. I just shift and it's fine, but it has been doing it sense i got my Vance and Hines. It may be because i rev it more to hear the sound of the pipes. It does not do it, if i take off slow and steady. I also do not have a programmer with my VnH pipes.

You could actually be hitting the rev limiter...

Being I live near a lake, all the Outboard boaters run Non Ethanol. So we have a gas station here that carries it. Cost is like 4.29 a gallon though.

Yep rev limiter hits at 40 to 45 mph:nod:

If your at 50 mph in 5th gear it may sputter because to low rpm?

Honestly, I'd say it does seem like it "cuts" out for a little bit. I put the sea foam in last night and drove it around a bit. That seemed to help, but there were still a few times when it seemed to cut in and out when I was cruising at say 40-50mph. I'm out of town, but when I get back I will see if acts differently if I accelerate hard vs slow and steady.

I'm hoping it's just related to the gas, and I'll switch to using regular from now on.

You need to run the whole tank out to see if it makes any difference

I use regular 87 gas, and mine does exactly as he is describing. Only in 2nd, and only when i take off from a dead stop faster than i probably should.

I bet you get better gas mileage. Lets see on a 10 gallon tank, thats 3 extra bucks. I bet you get at least 100 extra miles per 10 gallons! Pretty good aye? That ethenol crap is another way of the government officials are getting rich. Well, lets just say the Elite that have their hands in it!

There are a few stations that sale pure gas within 100 miles of my place. The closest one is 30 miles from me and it's where I gas up at but they have strict rules and signs saying for off road vehicles only. They wont let you put it in vehicles that are register for street. It's also 91 or higher octane and I don't have any vehicles that have a high enough compression ratio to run high octane fuel.
