Not to correct a newbie, but there is no such thing as "fake chrome plastic". Chrome is chrome. Its a special paint that can be sprayed and baked on anything. Plastic, steel, a rock etc. Of course spraying on plastic is the cheaper way to go. Of course by you painting the plastic black, you now have, "fake black plastic"Kuro1stGen said:I too would like that answer. I am in the middle of painting all the fake chrome plastics.

I found it listed on this site which offers other options:

If there is a Sears Hardware store nearby, I've seen some selection there as well. Just
watch out for parts that have a black nickel coating. It's similar to chromed but is a softer
coating and tends to scratch.
I guess some people just like to post for the **** of it. As if you didn't know what I was talking about. Give me a break.MY said:Not to correct a newbie, but there is no such thing as "fake chrome plastic". Chrome is chrome. Its a special paint that can be sprayed and baked on anything. Not a waste if that's what you want . Males my bike look better .jester624 said:Yes they do "real chrome" all of the plastics. They use special acids and current to get the copper to stick then basically plate the nickel and chrome. I have been into and worked at a plant that makes 90% of the chromed car emblems you see today around. It's a really cool process till they get the acids and crap back into the boiler....
As far as black bolts.... IMO its a waste of money.... a lot of money for a coating the will come off from tightening etc. I spray mine quick and use a small (like painting figurines) hand brush to fix the dings after I tighten them. I just spray the paint in a little puddle and dip the brush in there.
