I removed the chrome pieces on my otherwise all-black Stryker and intend to use Dupli-Color's SHADOW - Chrome Black-out Coating to go to a really dark chrome look. It's either this or sand and paint black as others have done so nicely, but I'm going for a new look.

It says on the package that I can use it on wheels, bumpers, exhaust tips, valve covers and chrome accessories and you can go as dark as you like for the BLACK-CHROME look.

It doesn't fade, rust, road abrasion or chip. Plus, the clear coating you add over it gives it really nice depth. 8)

Lets get some feedback on the subject. Which would you go with for your Stryker?

Good advice! Thanks.
I'm setting up another dust-free paint booth in my garage.......it will look like an operating room. I'm going to snap some pictures along the way so others can be inspired.....hopefully.

I also have to get out one of my hobby airbrushes and start hitting all the screw and bolts with some black paint. This will take forever, I'm sure, but with good prep work and skills it should go quickly and smartly.

One step at time though.....paint it, judge it, etc.

Why can't somebody put out a kit to change out the stock hardware for all-black hardware?

That would make life much easier. Also, why aren't the good people at Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki thinking of these things in advance?

be very careful pulling bolts off you covers and engine area. I did something similar
to my bike and had problems with leaks later. Your gaskets are like a heat activated
material that melts once heat hits it and forms to seal.....you take bolts out, even for
a little while and replace you run the risk of having leaks.

The paint you guys are referring to, I have used. Sounds like you have a great prep
area and that is key to this stuff.....any little dust partical will show.

Sure as sh*t, I went one coat too many also...............d*mn-it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, well. I can strip it off with some solvent and try again.

I am actually starting to think this is bad idea. Hmmm ???

word of advice painting the bolts is a pain in the butt. You have to be very careful not to scratch them up when you tighten them up and if you put to much paint on them your sockets will not fit. powder coat would be best since it is a coating and does not scratch as easily.

I blame SCHIMBO for setting too high of expectations. LMAO! :p

I have a new idea fro those parts since they are now flat-black.

I'll try it out on one part and get back to you with results. If it looks good, I'll post pics and give details.

What do they say...................necessity is the mother of invention?
