Almost complete the first project, the blackout. Waiting for the Rad III mirrors to arrive (hopefully today), and looking for black levers and gas cap, might have to get them powder coated over the winter.

Yeah, I think the copper looks best with Chrome but I guess it also looks great all blacked out, guess its just hard to screw up the look of this bike

That's exactly how my bike looks. Except I have the black scythe mirrors, no stripe on rim, and a black sissy bar. I love it!

Thanks for the input. Thinking of removing the gas tank sticker. I waited for this color combination for the wheels. Love the dust cover idea, that will be next.

I agree with everyone, leave the stripe on the wheels, remove the dust cover on the rear brake disk, and you bike does look bad ass!!!

I just picked up my 2011 Copper a couple of weeks ago. I am looking to black it out. I'm glad I came across this forum as I wanted to see what it would look like and I love it. Unfortunately the 2011 had more chrome on it so I am going to have to work a little harder. I just need to find some people that might want to trade some chrome parts for black.

Well, I stick by what I said. The bike is bad a$$, but I like the look better without the stripe. Guess that is what makes the world go around. Didn't know my suggestion was going to cause some many people to comment about the stripe. Dude, you do whatever makes you happy. We all make our bikes look the way we want, if they all looked the same it would be boring. Looking forward to see more of your mods. 8)

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I LOVE the way my bike looks and I think it will look better as I continue the blackout.
I agree with traxscr, one reason I love this forum is the ideas I get from looking at other bikes. I take something from one bike and something from another to make mine look the way I think it will look best, and unique. The bottom line is there really isn't a wrong mod if you like the way it looks.

The RAD III mirrors and black sissy bar are on but still can't decide on grips, thinking Arlen Ness Deep Cut but I want to see them in my hand first. Pics will come as more mods are done.

I have the same bike. One reason I special ordered it from Yamaha was I really like the black features. But, after seeing the blacked-out headlight on your bike, personally, it just doesn’t quite look right to me. But that’s subjective. Don’t touch the red stripes on the rims!

Wow! I really like the blackened headlight! Is that something that you had powder-coated on your own, is did you order it? I've never seen one before, is why I ask.
