Since my oldest son totaled my wife's 3 month old 2011 Ninja 650 2 weeks ago we've been looking for a replacement. We ended up with a new 2009 Yamaha FZ1 (998cc)for about the same money as the Ninja 650. The seating position is upright so its very comfy for my old bones. It is by far the easies bike I've ever driven and the power is very smooth/linear. From what I've read it puts down 130hp to the wheel (~150hp at the motor) and only weighs 485lbs wet. It even has a 190 rear tire.

I actually test road one of those for ****s and giggles, not my style of bike but was a very comfortable ride, seemed to sit kind of high in my opinion
