Hey everyone, I recently drilled holes in the baffles (4 in each). I doubt that this had anything to do with my issue... The motorcycle is on, in neutral, kickstand up, kill switch in the ON position, and has plenty of gas. When I went to start the bike it turns over but does not start. It makes a clicking sound followed by a very quiet but high pitched beep which lasts for about 2-3 seconds. The speedometer needle restarts and goes back and fourth again. I noticed when the bike is ON all lights are on except for the main headlight. This bike is BRAND new (< 50 miles). It is in the low 50's here so I assume temperature is not an issue.

Thanks for your time

Try to get it back to the dealer... if they can't repair it or if the problem persists, have the bike declared a lemon. it falls under the lemon law.... you have to give them a chance to repair the isue, but if they can't within a resonable amount of time, then they have to declare it a lemon and replace it at no cost to you. make sure you get copies of every single thing they do to the bike and keep them!!! also make sure they report thenissue to Yamaha. They may try to say they can't, but that is bs. they will be sent another bike in replacement of yours, if they need to replace it. The time is limited to declare it a lemn, so keep an eye on that!! Every once in a while, someone will get a lemon car, truck, or bike, it happens. My stryker is reliable, and well built, as I am sure most of them are. Sorry you are having such issues.... I hope everything works out for you!! :)

Make sure fuel petcock is open. Is under tank on left side. Dealer may not have opened it all the way and bike was running on secondary tank till this point. Valve handle should be verticle when open. Horizontal when closed

I am having a hard time finding the pet ****, is it covered or near the white 9V battery looking thing and the little black foam block? I am looking under the right side.

Thank you both of you for the quick responses, I just want to get back on the road.

I bet it is the battery ground connection or the positive wire going to the starter... had the same issue on a friends raider recently... it was wierd... ran perfect... then would turn over... try to start... a small *pop* and everything would reset... the positive wire on the starter came loose.

So the battery is at 11.19 V, the starter turns over but does not "catch" the engine, headlight does not work. Pet **** is ON, there is gas, no fuses in fuse box are blown... I am going to call the dealership tomorrow and have them tow and fix it if I cannot find the problem. Honestly I am pissed off but I thank everybody for the support.

I know 11V would be pretty low to start a car. It should be over 12V and drop when you are cranking, then return back to 12V and when charging be over 13V. Try jumping it with a car battery. I bet your battery is weak.

+1 on that.
The headlight does not come on until the motor starts.
Did you mean the starter does not turn at all or does not catch? that makes a difference. If the power drops when you hit the starter button so it does not turn over and even resets the system from total power loss, it could be 1 of 3 things, week battery, connection or bad starter.

The starter turns but does not catch. I read in the owners manual that you need to use a special charger for this battery and using a car battery charger can do damage.

Starter spins but does not catch and turn the motor? or turns the motor not but not fast enough to start?
