There has been many many posts about pipes, air intakes & fuel management systems. I know that you can have either a set of pipes OR air intake installed without a fuel management. I know that if you have both you need to have a fuel manager installed.
So here is the thing, I have a set of cobra speedster swept installed. I am getting a Cobra powerflo & a Fi2000CVT for Christmas. My bike has been winterized. Among other things the gas tank is filled to the brim. The instructions for installing the CVT say that the tank needs to be as close to empty as possible. Can I Install the air intake over the winter and in the spring ride down the gas without creating any problems or do I have to wait and do both at the same time? AND before anyone says I can drain the tank, I am just saying that I am only moderately handy (bolt-on/plug & play)and that is something that I neither want to do or equipped to do.

Go for it! Just make sure your Key is know where around your bike, unplug your battery and tape your terminals. ... I had to take the tank loose to run the cables. If your topped off ~ you have to take some fuel out....no doubt about that.. You shouldn't have to take the tank off. Have fun! take your time...You can do it.

Dont drain tank. Just remove the screws one at each side at rear of tank and lift up and set a short piece of wood 2x2 will work between rear brackets for tank and top of bike frame. Then do the install. big fat fingers do not work well with injector hookups, so a 90 degree set of needle nose pliers used gently works well for that. There is a video at Cobra.com that is great for the install..

Thats a good question but why dose the tank need to not be full. are you using a auto tuner and the map version, that may be why they say it should not be full. Sorry i can not help. I installed the Intake and then road the bike to the dealer of the Auto tuner and Exhaust (and Iso grips). I was not going to screw up Patrices bike. I have to live with her. ;D

I think the original question was more about if he is ok to ride through one tank with exhaust and intake, but no programmer without doing any damage. I think I have seen some people on here that have both, and no programmer. I would think it would be fine, just don't ride it too hard.. I don't think only 1 tank will hurt anything.

Thanks everyone. I down loaded the instructions from cobra and read them again. They actually do not say that the tank needs to be empty. I not sure where I got that. Maybe I read in another post or got it off utube while researching a how to video. So I hope to do all my mods over the winter months. SmokeinJoe maybe right. With the tank topped off I may have an issue that gas may spill out of the cap or vent. All of the suggestions will be used in the instillation. I am also replacing the speedo faceplate and I do them at the same time to give the gas tank a little more room.
Saclean as for Patrice's bike --- We are waiting --- I have been following the progress and I know its getting close. Really looking forward to the pics.
