Read an interesting article that my brother sent me today. He rides a goldwing and is considering this. Thought some of you may like the article.

The thing with the car tire on a stryker.. Usually when people go and do this, they put a car tire that has a pretty similar profile as a bike tire. The stryker rim is awful wide, so when you put a car tire on it you have a huge flat surface.

That said I have a General G-Max AS-03 and I like it just fine. It looks badass, in my opinion, and I expect to get 40k+ miles out of it. I can grind the pegs all day long, but I did run into a spot of trouble one time when I was grinding the frame. I got lucky that time, but I do take it a bit easier now.

Some other down sides: I had my license plate mounted too close to it and it ate the plate and destroyed my tail light. This was my fault, clearly, but if you have modded your license plate bracket keep an eye on it. It was a good excuse to mod - looks even cooler with led tail lights and a axle mount bracket.

The other big thing is, the big flat tire will mess you up at slow speeds if the road is rough. Like pulling up to a stop at a bumpy intersection... the tire tries to stay flat and will buck you all over the place.

Bump this thread up.
Want to know how that car tire is doing? Re visiting the idea because of mileage or lack of with bike tires. 3k to 5k is killing me now with two Strykers.

You probably wouldn't need the kickstand with that flat block of a rear tire either!
Come to a stop and step off!:thumb:
Kinda like riding a trike?
Not for me but to each his own.

I read most of that other thread linked and I can say without hesitation that running a car tire on a MC looks like ****. :tsk:

At about 2:11 you hear and kinda see that he picks up something in the tread, gravel me thinks and it keeps geting trapped in the treads and thown up into the fender and this cycle keeps repeating as the tire pics up the rock again. Something to consider Toby if you are riding on rough roads with gravel. Gravel gets caught car tire treads mopre easily unlike the open cut design of a MC tire. It seems like this piece of gravel is not easily ejected probably diue to the close proximity of the fender. Or it could be he just went trhrough a lot of gravel in front of him.
