Hello

I had my first fall on the Stryker last night(first day of rain in Los Angeles). I need to replace the shift lever and the left foot peg. I would like to do it myself. Does anyone have any experience changing out these items? I looked in the service manual, but I didnt see anything. Also, is there a section in the forum/ manual that tells you how to change your oil step by step?

If anyone knows where I can get a cheap replacement peg let me know please. I was quoted 114$ for just the left peg alone. Im upgrading to floorboards, but I need a cheap replacement peg until I can purchase the floorboards.

Good place to ask. I'm sure some one has pegs after swapping theirs out.
To change the oil buy a $10 oil filter wrench from Yamaha. The filter is on the bottom right side and the drain plug is on the 0posite side. it's simple.
Don't know how bad your shifter is but I re-bent my wife's after her little accident

Thank You,

Does the oil wrench come with the tool kit that came with bike? The shifter and floor peg need to be replaced. Is there anything in the service manual?
No the wrench does not come in the tool kit it looks like a cup and fits over the oil filter end and you tern it with a ratchet
There is instructions in the owners manual that you got with your bike.

Not sure if there is anything about the shifter or pegs in the manual. there is threads on this forum that have step by step instruction on both. Not sure what they are call but you might try searching floorboards, shifters, or peg replacement. Or just wait and I'm sure some one that has done this will see your post and help out.

The Stock foot peg comes off with simple pair of pliers. Must take cotter pin out of clevis pin and then remove clevis pin with same pliers. If just installing another peg, then take note how spring is attached to peg as you remove clevis pin so that you can install new peg correctly. If installing floorboards, they will come with bolt that goes in place of clevis pin. Get yourself a set of metric combination wrenches from 8mm to 19 mm. Next the shifter also has a cotter pin that is somewhat hidden. also the shifter is a a little more difficult because you must loosen jam nut on both ends of shift rod to remove shift lever from rod. Note- one end of rod is right hand thread and opposite end is left hand thread. Just loosen both nuts and turn rod out of ends. When reinstalling shift rod you will now have to adjust where your shifter peg is comfortable for shifting up and down.

I can see how you can change the shifter and brake "pegs" where your heals go. But can you change the actual shifter and brake small pegs that your toes control (i.e. the small pegs in the front)?

I was looking at changing the pegs to the new Kuryakyn black trident pegs

And I see they have a small Shifter peg, which has a threaded end.

But I don't think you can change these out without replacing the arms on the Stryker. Am I correct or am I missing how to remove these pieces?

I'm in the process of installing these exact Shifter/brake pedal pegs.

To remove the shift lever, you'll need to remove the 'C' clip and washer holding the lever on the assembly. Then loosen the 2 bolts holding the entire forward control assembly to the frame. Loosening these 2 bolts gives you the required space to slide the lever off of the assembly. The lever is a 1 piece unit. In order to install the above Kuryakyn Trident Pegs you need to cut off the existing shift peg, then drill a hole. Then either tap that hole or get a bolt long enough to go through and put on a nut. The longest I could find that would fit the shaft through the peg was an M8-1.25x60mm. Its just long enough to put on a nut, but no washer.

I haven't got around to the brake side yet, but I believe its the same with the addition of a cotter pin and the spring for the brake light switch.

As far as obtaining a replacement shifter...you may have to buy new as its still a new model and not many wrecks that you can get parts off of. Try eBay though, you may get lucky.

Thanks NateDog. That's makes perfect sense. However why would you need to find a replacement shifter?

Which dually did you get...the one with the adapter or the one without it and then get the correct adapter? I tried to call Kury but they were closed. I thought you would get the piece with the adapter (like in my pic) and then get the 8810 adapter. I called Dennis kirk but they did not have any information for the Stryker and were of no help.

Does anyone know the Dennis Kirk part number for the front peg adapter (and/or rear peg) for the Kuryakyn pegs? I know it is 8810, but I called Dennis Kirk (DK) and they have no available information for the Stryker. If you type 8810 on the DK website, it gives you a bunch of various part numbers for the adapter to order from, but I have no idea which one to order. By what I can tell, to order the front pegs and adapter from DK would save about $15, plus shipping is free over $100 as compared to directly from Kuryakyn. Thought I would see if anyone had he information before spending an extra $25.

Is it 8810 or 8814 for the front? On Kuryakyn's site, it was 8810, but I thought I saw some posts where it was 8814.

When I did a 8810 search on DK, a part number came up but I had no way to verify if it was the correct part.
