Exactly Billy. Engine just has a better rythm at cruise speed with the 30 tooth. top end, fuel mileage stay the same. I still say bike should have come with this setup just like its Vstar 1300 cousin.I think 11 and I discussed the difference in the rpms in another thread. He has a tach and has swapped both pulleys. Not sure how to search for that thread since cannot remember what we were originally talking about but hopefully 11 will see this and post.
I think the rpm difference was minimal or we were talking about 50, 70, 80 etc. with the 30 tooth and the small difference in rpm's...
Cannot say for sure. Tire size & front pulley each affect the gearing. Initially 11 and I were discussing if we ever had a 6th gear which I would be a fan of like Yamaha just did w/ the FJR1300 and no new box needed !!!!Doesn't the 30 tooth pulley and the 240 rear tire cancel out the higher RPM?
I just swapped my pulley with the 30T from a 2014 Bolt (EB183 2014 Yamaha XVS950). Part number 5S7-17651-00-00. Everything fits as expected. I'm excited to take it for a ride after dinner and see the difference!

What year bike is this pulley from?I'd like to get $75, that's what I spent on my 31-tooth (from a Stryker). I too am in MN, Chaska to be exact. Let me know if you're interested and whereabouts you are located in MN to see if shipping even applies. Thank you! - Scotty
Thanks for getting back to me, I am interested In this part. Is there anyway we could meet up if I was to head that way today? Here is my personal e-mail.My bike is a 2008 with the 1300 engine. From what I understand, the engines are the same. I know with my Vstar 1300, nothing changed on the engine throughout the lifecycle of the bike. I suspect the same is true for the Stryker. The 31-tooth I put on my bike was from a 2011 Stryker 1300. I should have take a picture of both, but the only difference is the overall diameter, which is what you'd expect. I had a shop install mine and they said everything went fine on the install. My 30-tooth is in "pristine" condition --heavy, solid forged metal. I don't see how this part could ever wear out in this configuration! (It's well-designed just like the rest of the bike!). Anyway, based on your location, I can check shipping and probably include it in the price. If you want a picture, let me know how I can get that to you. Thanks! ... Cool that we're both in MN! --Scotty
