You already know that I am killing as much chrome as possible on my raven so I have been racking my brain on what to use on the top fork section between triple trees. I shudder at the thought of paying $100 bucks from LM but did like the idea. I wanted something that was not smooth and too shiny and I really wanted something with ridges or lines. WELL, I finally found it and believe me it is hard to find anything with the proper inside diameter to work. I found a shopvac extension tube that was ribbed and already black. I cut them to fit and sprayed them with Acrylic Enamel Clear Coat and slapped them babies in there. WOW, what a difference. Cost me $15 bucks, even better. While I had forks off, I ditched the lolipops and ordered fork wrap LED turns and customized the fork rock guards and sprayed them with the same clearcoat. I am pleased. Just waiting on the lights to come in.

For those of you that are planning on removing the front wheel yourselves and don't have the proper tool to remove the axle, you can go to Home Depot and get a coupling for a buck that will solve your problems. It fits snug in the axle and a 3/4" socket fits the other end. I'm all about saving money.

Good idea on the fork tubes, I like the way that looks.

Yami Dealer here has always put my Inspection sticker in that area of the forks. Will have to have that changed to do this mod. Nice work.

Very cool! I got a bunch of 3M Superblack Reflective tape I was planning on using to a similar end, but I like your take a lot. Sweet.
Thanks Salty. I like the fact that the tubes are already black. The acrylic clear dries very hard and gives it a satin sheen. Very easy mod. The only difficult part is cutting the tubes for a very tight fit.

Oh you noticed those. I bought them for something else thinking they would fit but were too small. I decided to try them on the fork nuts. Thanks Bool
I have several on my bike. I have a 1" on my air filter, and a 2" on my pulley cover. Then I have the ones for the air filters in black on both sides of the engine. Some might think they are cheesy, but I like them..

I want you to stop and think a minute before I answer that lol... Hint: what happens to the bottom fork section each time you hit a bump.

Just giving you a hard time, hehe I actually don't think it would look good anyway with the bottom black. It seems to accent the extra rake that the Strykers have by being chrome.

What was involved on the fork rock guard mod?

I just took them off of the forks and got the cutting wheel after them. They could have been more perfect but I just did each one freehand. Then I coated them with two light coats of acrylic enamel clear which makes them very black and a wet satin look.

****, I was using words that was almost exciting me. Does that mean something is wrong with me?
