So I finally got up the nerve to do it. Once you start you can't go back. I had to sand blast the paint. cut down the finder, then repaint it. I also slotted the mount holes so it would fit closer to the tire.

Looks great, what black paint did you use?

A polyurethane gloss black base. It matches real well with the yamaha black. It's not metallic, but all the black metallic ive seen has to much sparkle in it. Not cheap either, about $80 a quart.

What did you use to cut it ?

I used a 90 degree sander with a cut off wheel. Heres a pic of one like i used.

so did you tape off your lines then cut then sand and paint?

No, there is a sand blaster where I work, I blasted the paint off, then just marked my lines with a sharpie and cut it out with a grinder, filed the edges smooth and repainted the whole thing.

have you noticed if it throws rocks and dirt up more now or not?

I haven't really noticed a differance yet, I can hear small rocks hitting the finder still, so it's doing some good. I'm sure it will let more through just because there is less coverage. I haven't been in the rain yet. though I try to aviod rain anyway.
