These are probably going to sound like dumb questions, but before I start pulling stuff apart, I want to make sure I'm not going that deep into it right now. Are the chrome engine covers just cosmetic covers or are they part of the actual engine cover (meaning removing them will empty oil / expose the clutch discs, etc). Also, I meant to check when I got home and I'm too lazy to run out the garage right now.. lol. But are the covers metal or plastic? I want to start blacking out the bike starting with the covers but I'm hoping they are metal so I can powdercoat them instead of just painting.
Thanks in advance.

Haha... yea, I decided to just stop being lazy and go out and check. So I'll probably order up some of that Plasti-dip so that I can remove it if I ever decide to go back to chrome. And being that they are plastic I am assuming they are just accent pieces and not actual covers???

Today I bought some matte black spray paint and some sand paper. This is the first time I've ever heard of plasti dip. Think I am going to go that route now. Seems it would be easier. And if I mess up Just Peel it off. Same result that I am looking for either way. Looks like I'll be heading to home depot tomorrow.

Thanks for the idea klarowe.
