Hey guys I know this has been talked about and i searched it. I just want to know for all the people that have painted and eliminated all the chrome pieces WHICH is the best thing to do PLASTI DIP OR DUPLICOLOR PAINT? I plan on getting rid of my chrome this weekend and want to know if the paint holds up good.

Just got my bike a few weeks ago and plan the same thing. Going to start out with the speedo and ignition cover. Another member gave me these instructions the other day. So I cannot take credit (or blame).

"The plastidip is holding up pretty good. I haven't noticed any peeling so far.

To prepare the parts for plastidip, I just cleaned them to make sure there was no dirt or oil. Then I just sprayed the plastidip directly to the parts (no primer needed). I did about four coats on each part. I used about 1.5 cans since I messed up on speedometer cover on my first attempt.

I used this video for my spraying technique/time intervals : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FchIWF8Vi2Y

I removed the parts from the bike so it would be easier to spray and not have to worry about over spray."

I would suggest plasti dip. Reason being, after I scuffed up my chrome and painted it I then realized it is permanent. The chrome is scuffed forever. Which is fine with me. It my require reprinting. The plasti dip goes on without scuffing. It can be removed and the chrome is back to original. It just leaves you with an option is all.

I used bulldog which is similar to a primer and in a spray can, and then i used trim paint (matte black).

I have a paint store here that can color match anything you need in about 15 minutes into a spary can which is nice.

took me longer to tak everything off than it did to recolor my chrome. Bulldog only needs 10 minutes between applications, and trim paint seems to dry in less than 20 minutes.. btw i live in humid ol FLorida so that time isnt so bad imo.
