Are the chrome pieces on these bikes plastic?

I have not yet had a chance to really check them out. I see many are painting them and I think the missus wants to do the same. She has a 2012 Raven that has a lot of chrome pieces.

Yep, cheap plastic

Just about everything chrome is plastic. You still have to treat it like metal when you paint it. It needs to be scuffed and primed with a self etching primer.

And on top of that, they are just dummy covers. Nuttin behind them!!

Hopefully we'll have a free weekend when she gets the bike to fix the dreaded chrome thing ;D

With the purchase of new handlebars for my Raider ... I have the heads and exhaust left ... might ceramic coat the heads - then call it done.

Has anyone put any clear-coat over the there painted chrome? Seems to scratch easy.
