chrome finish or black matte?

Anything that is baked onto the pipe I would start by scraping it off with a plastic scraper. Then use a mild soap & water with rag to get off any residue you can. I would avoid a harsh cleaner like bug-n-tar remover which might change the color of the black matte finish. Finally what I use to clean my black V&H Twin Staggered pipes (and entire bike) is Pro Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish
