I know a lot of people have painted their chrome parts black. Has anyone clear coated theres after painting them. My cover on left side of bike by shifter has scratchs on it from my boot and I have repainted it and was wondering is a satin or flat clear coat would help with this.

Everyone has been painting the engine covers flat black with whatever brand which is usually an enamel. Enamel doesn't require a top coat, but you can if you want. Just make sure the clear is compatible with whatever paint you use. Personally I just find it a lot easier to just re-spray it if you get a scratch.

Thanks, my issue is I am putting a number on that part so I will not be able to respray. I will make sure the clear is compatible though Natedog
