I currently have a blvd shield with a 15 custom shield on it. Im 6'4 and it works pretty good for slower riding. But I get lots of buffeting on my helmet at freeway speeds. Im considering ording the 17 rifle, but am wondering if at my height, if I'll want something taller.

Rifle offers the blvd replacement sheild in custom sizes. Has anyone ever ordered one from them larger than 17" I'd love to hear from you or see a pic if you have.

Also, Clearview Shields makes a replacement Blvd shield for yamaha Warrior Blvd Brackets. Does anyone have any experience with the yamaha warrior? Are the warrior and stryker blvd shields similar. Im wondering if it could be made to work. The clearview shields have a curve at the top that looks like it might deflect more air..... A link is below

I would not bother with the 17", go for the 22". I am 5'10" and have the 17" and get buffeting. Went back to the Blvd.
I was referring to the rifle replacement shield for the blvd bracket. Im not interested in the OEM yamaha 17 or 22 quick release shields.

I'll be using my blvd brackets regardless, I was just wondering if anyone had experience with the 17 rifle replacement shield, or if anyone has custom ordered one larger.....or ever seen a clearview shield for the warrior blvd brackets.

I guess I was not clear. My 17" is the rifle replacement that uses the Blvd mounts so I can speak the difference of each shield. IMHO the 17" does not block enough wind at highway speeds to significantly reduce or eliminate the buffeting at my height. The wind catches about the top two inches of my full face helmet. In fact I felt the buffeting was much worse with the 17" than the 10.75" (again at highway speeds.) If I had to do it over again I would go with the 22" custom rifle so the wind went completely over my head. At less than highway speeds I do like the 17" as I can use my half helmet for around town cruising which I can't do with the 10.75" due to it throwing to much wind in my eyes even with eye protection. Being taller I am sure your experience will vary.

I will say there is another phenomenon I get with the 17". It seems to almost creates a vortex behind my head. My helmet is little short in the back than most helmets and my hair is practically standing straight up in he back where the helmet does not cover. Maybe it's this vortex that is causing the buffeting, I am not sure but I prefer the 10.75" with a full face for the higher highway speeds. Just my two cents.

Thanks, I may order a costom 22 rifle shield. I guess there isn't anyone on the forum who has ordered a custom rifle shield. I may as well be the guinea pig.mim half tempted to order on of the clearview shields just for sh*ts as well. I think they look quite a bit better and look more functional too. I guess that's one of the huge benefits of the blvd mounts. Even after buying two or three replacement shields, still a lot cheaper than the Tall yamaha shields.

That was exactly how I rationalized it. I picked up my Blvd for a steal and even with getting the Rifle 17" for occasional use I am still way ahead of the game if I had done the QR 17". I really did not want to look through the windshield which is why I went 17" but now would rather have the shorty and the tall and skip the in between. I will note the 17" does wobble a little at the very top at highway speeds. I would assume it would only be more significant with a taller the shield, because the blvd mounting points are at the very lower portion of the shield and with no bracing beyond that point the acrylic does flex even though there is a curve to shield.

Post some pics and your findings once you get it. Ride safe!

Yeah, I would be a little nervous putting a big windshield on those boulevard mounts. Only 2 bolts hold the whole assembly to the top triple tree. Maybe some alternate custom bracing could be done though.

Well I guess we are going to find out.....I had them make me a 20". I'm flying back to MN and going to ride her out to my new place in eastern washington. I'm leaving on June 9th and should be home by the 13th or 14th. Im a bit worried about shield wobble as well. I think I'll bring some tools and my 15 shields on the road in case I have trouble.

Did you ever get and mount your 20" shield? If so update us on how you like it or don't.

Does anyone know if the winddefletor for some of the other shields could be attached to kick the wind up. Like the bullet cowl and the Memphis shades that lip that you can mount on them.
