Ok, maybe im just over thinking this. My clutch lever has gotten very loose lately. (no pun intended) There is almost no tension or resistance when i pull it in. I referred to the owners manual, and all it tells me to do is mess with the free play. i cant seem to figure out how to give the lever more tension. Anybody have any advice??

Not near my bike and its storming so I can't check but, is there not a small black wheel that you can turn to tighten it? Could be wrong and maybe its only on the brake side.

that small balck whell is on the clutch cable by the lever tighten just enought to take the slack out

i tried the wheel and nut. it tightened the lever, but it gave the clutch more free play. i had to let the clutch completely out for it to engage.

Try finding the the end of the cable that hooks on at the engine. That's more than likely where the issue is. You may have one of the lock nuts coming loose.
