I posted this earlier as a reply, but figured I'd just go ahead and start a new thread since there's not a lot out on here about the Closed Loop version of the Cobra Fuel Management System. This is a cheaper alternative to the $600.00 Auto Tune that can essentially do the same exact thing, no matter what your air intake/exhaust/elevation/temperature requirements are.
-----------------------------------------------------
Just a little FYI. I just installed the FI2000R Closed Loop system yesterday (the cheaper $200 one). I only have the cobra swepts and stock cleaner, but the instructions say that the same mapping can be used no matter which way you go. Ex - Full exhaust w/ intake, full exhaust w/o intake, stock exhaust w/intake. The mapping comes preset from Cobra, but is ALSO adjustable if you only have a slip on pipe, or even if your exhaust and intake are BOTH stock.

Here's the link: http://www.cobrausa.com/fuel_detail.php?make_id=6&model_id=312&model=Stryker&product_type=Motorcycle Fuel Management&product=Fi2000R&product_id=3016

Click on download instructions and read what it says. ALSO, you can make fine tune adjustment on idle, slow steady throttle, rapid acceleration, and max rpm delivery.

Here's a quote directly from the instructions: "The Fi2000R has the ability to efficiently tune the EFI system on your motorcycle for slip-on or full exhaust systems. Your Cobra Fi2000 fuel injection module has been tested and preset for best function and rideability on a motorcycle with aftermarket air cleaner and Cobra full exhaust"

Seems like this would be a very efficient alternative to forking over the big dollars for the auto tune. As long as you have a little bit of time and a small flat head, YOU could be the auto tune. :) I have no complaints on mine so far, and I have the low and mean intake adapter on order. I haven't touched the settings on the programmer yet. The throttle response is amazingly better. Hope this info helps out.

Hey Bang, The AutoTune is only 465.00- not 600.00. Still more than twice your 200.00 unit, but lets be fair.

Cobra Fi2000R Closed Loop
This programmer does not tune the bike durring cruise mod when the bike is using the closed loop system to run more lean/green. durring accell or any thing else it does.
This is the main reason I choise to purcase a more expensive programmer one that would do all.
You get what you pay for in this case.

Retail for the auto tune is $599.95 from cobra's website, where the Fi2000r closed loop is $234.95. These are both the retail prices from cobrausa.com. I'm sure they're cheaper out there on the web. Still a $365.00 difference, and definitely a significant enough difference for this guy to save some cash! I'm sure the auto tune is great for some people, but from the research I've done and the performance I've seen out of it, I'll stick to the CL.

To **** with Cobra's website. I got mine from GM Cycles in Maryland for 465.00. Ya don't have to take the most expensive source to make a comparison!

I'm not saying that the Closed Loop system is the best thing out there, and I'm sure the Auto Tune is much more efficient. I'm simply trying to educate people who may not be ready to shell out 2 bike payments on a fuel management system when they can get comparable performance from a similar product. From what I've read on other people's experiences with cobra and their staff, I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help any fellow owner's on mapping and adjusting if there were to be an issue.

Hey "B", also you can let people know that they can call S&S customs to order the closed loop tuner from them for like $195. I started to order one myself but I have a guy here where I live that is gonna install the power commander for me and tune it for $300, it will eliminate the 02 sensor so I can cut off my pipes. It'll prob be a couple of weeks before I do it, just had to buy a new back tire, that was my tuner money, lol.

Very cool! I figured they would start dropping in price once the popularity started growing. I pondered the Power Commander myself as well. Let us all know how it turns out and what numbers you see if it gets dyno'd!

I also had the chugging in the upper gears when I would grab a handful of throttle. Changed the pots to the following settings and cleared it right up after a weekend of testing. 2.5, 4.5, 3.0. I hope this helps others.

I'm at 2.5-6-5 and I feel like it could be better too. Those settings were perfect when I had only the swepts and the stock air cleaner. Now I get the same chugging you guys are talking about too. Sort of feels like it's running a bit rich since I still get some decel popping in the exhaust. That being said, Blekaxe has probably got it figured out with his numbers. I'm gonna try the 2.5-4.5-3.0 when I get home today. Seems like that would lean it out enough if it is running rich. I'll re-post with my results.

you guys should go for a dyno then you would be set.
If I can't figure it out I'll take it to the dyno guy down the road. :)
