Anyone using running the cobra slip on mufflers? I really want the swepts, but I don't wanna spend $600 when I can get the slip ons for like $250. What's the sound difference? Thanks!
I got the slip-on, and took the baffle out. It's as loud as my brothers HD with his drag pipes (no baffles either) 92 decibels at idle :biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1:

I used to think his bike was obnoxious...now mine is too...and I like it :thumb:

...and I used to think the "loud pipes save lives" motto was BS...but I have found it to be true...not necessarily on the highway, but around town...definitely.

Easy to do..take out the screw holding on the tip,and the screw holding in the baffle. If you have a slide hammer, just jury-rig a hook onto the end of it. and slip it into the baffle until you catch one of the holes, and pull it out...or for a few minutes longer, take it off and pop it out from the other side with a long extension and a large socket. Warning: no baffle = pops on decel....so if you don't like the popping I wouldn't recommend it. Me I like it :biggrin1:

i was thinking the same thing, whether to buy the slip on or the whole exhaust. I bought the slip on and it is awesome. loud enough for me. easy to install as well. i wouldn't bother with the full exhaust. i haven't tried to pull the baffles yet, maybe when i go deaf i can do that!!!!

There are a lot of us running the slip-on for the same reason. I could not muster the balls to tell the wife that I wanted to spend another $600 to sound cool. I have not regrets with slip-on as for performance and sound. Can't speak to the sound difference between the two but I have $400 more to apply to a tuner and air kit.

I just installed this and I went for a really chill cruise at the beach and I was setting off car alarms everywhere. I don't think I could get away with no baffle around here!
Slip on or Full Swepts?

Edit: Never mind just saw your other post in another thread. Yep the slip on does not disappoint.

Just throwing this out there...
The big difference between the slip on and the full pipe swap is the size of the head pipes not just the sound.
The stock pipes are TINY compared to the pipes you get with a swap to performance exhaust.
The slip on sounds great with the baffle they put in it and megaphone chamber.
Not knocking it all because if it's the sound you are going for then you get it with the slip on.
The real difference with a full pipe swap to a high performance pipe is the performance you gain.
Just like installing a quality set of headers on your car... It breaths better releasing hidden HP gains.
AND of course they sound incredible!

Just installed my slip on today and love it. got it for 190 shipped off ebay. It sounds awesome, pretty loud too. Drove past my old High School and saw a football game going on. took the rode that has the opposing teams bench/ stands and could not help my self from cranking on the throttle and letting her scream! couldnt be happy but later on i might buy the Freedom Performance 2into1 Exhaust if they even make enough so they are not on back order
