ok so i just got done with two mods.. i put on my cobra's and worth all the joy of them, and so i "cleaned out the crap" which then i moved my plate to the side. Here on some pics:
and in case you were wondering here is how the front looks:
basically i used the brackets i cut off the back to frame up the plate like this. Just used everything off the old stock end to fix this up. in the morning i have a couple subtle touches: i'm dabbing black primer on the scuffed plates, and on the 4 bolt necks and nuts to cover the hardware color. and i am wrapping a big black rubberband around the plate edge to "soften" the plate edge.
Looks good! Good idea to reuse that hardware from the back to relocate your plate. Is there a chance that the vibrations might loosen the screws on the plate and it slip off?
I would be afraid that you or someone else could walk by and brush up against the plate and bend it pretty eaisly. I hit mine with my leg all the time. I made a backing plate for mine, just a piece of mild steel, you can buy from lowes or home depot. Makes it alot more rigid and sturdy. Just a thought. Looks good though. Here's a pic of mine. I mounted mine to the unused passenger peg holes.
